I am a final-year university student, currently working and living in Loughborough, UK. I am originally from Bucharest, Romania but I moved to England in 2016 for my studies and work. I love exploring new places and I travel whenever I have free time and spare cash. I am a very outdoors persons, I love cycling, playing tennis, running, camping, fishing and basically anything that allows me to be active and be in nature.

Initially, I thought it was a great way to save money but after being hosted a few times, CS has changed my entire perception of why I like to travel. It has made me realize that it is not just about checking tourist landmarks off my list, it is about the people I meet along the way and how I can develop as a person from these interactions. I like travelling solo and CS has allowed me to do that without the risk of feeling lonely or vulnerable. Now, CS is my main way of travelling, I would not go back to AirBNBs or fancy hotels as they appear so cold and unwelcoming to me. I also love the idea of making friends around the world and the prospect of meeting up again in the future. Which is why CS for me isn't about 'free places to stay' but about PEOPLE.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I choose my music on the spot based on mood and activity. This being said, I enjoy both classical music or jazz and pop or rock. However, my all time favourites are Coldplay, Adele, Imagine Dragons, ABBA and many more...there are actually few artists that I don't like.

In terms of books I love everything by Latino writers such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabel Allende or Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I am a lot into non-fiction at the moment and I read many traveling-related books, encyclopedias, guides, albums etc. Harry Potter will also guard a special place in my heart...

Movie-wise I simply can't pick a favourite... I usually go for dramas or movies based on real stories. I am not a fan of horror movies, Marvel/DC (please don't hate me for this) or very cheesy comedies.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I think one of my biggest achievements to date is successfully settle down in a completely different culture when I was only 19. It was a big shift but living by myself from such a young age has taught me how to be self-sufficient and organised and how to trust myself and my ability to face any situation.

Every year, I set new goals for myself as I am a true believer that unless you push your limits to the next level you will never become the best version of yourself. In 2019, my goal is to travel as much as possible and to prioritise the spiritual experiences over the material ones, that is to stop making money an excuse for not doing what I want.

I think that it's not worth knowing anything unless you are willing to share that knowledge with others. All people are constantly learning from every encounter and I am always very happy to talk about my native culture and language, to exchange tips and insights.
