About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Grew up in Seville (Spain). Lived in 3 Spanish cities (Coruña, Madrid and Seville) and 3 other cities around Europe (London, Brussels and Stockholm)

ABOUT ME
I'm María, illustrator and graphic designer temporarily living in the south of Spain after 6 years in the UK.
I am curious about the world and used to deal with all sorts of people. I have lived and worked abroad in several occasions, also has been involved in volunteering previously. I like genuine and unselfish people, with interesting conversation, aims and dreams in life. I am into outdoors activies, music, art, travelling, boardgames, cinema, books, languages...
PHILOSOPHY

My aim is life is sharing happiness and experiences with the people I love, meeting nice human beings wherever I go and enjoying life. Sharing is caring. Trying to be my best friend and be in peace with myself. Adventure over routine. Experiences and memories over money and items. Re-using and recycling over consuming. Empathy and generosity instead of selfishness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to keep in contact with people I have met along the years, in Spain and abroad, and also add new people to "my family".

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I just have hosted friends and people that I've met living in London, Brussels and Stockholm. I have been hosted twice, in Palma de Mallorca and in Porto, both really good experiences.

Interests

Love reading, music (listening and playing and singing), yoga and taichi, cycling, hiking and trekking, nature, movies, art, meet new people, cultures and languages...I´m specially interested in getting involved with any ONG and community projects.

The list will be long, just a few...classic instrumental music (piano, violin, movies bso), Indie rock/pop, goth metal, 80s, 60s...films...How to train your Dragon, Coco (love animation!), Life of Pi, City of God, Grand Hotel Marygold, Lion, Slumdog Millionaire, The Big Fish...books!I like graphic novels as well. My favourite author is Neil Gaiman...I also like Marjane Satrapi, Paul Auster, Aruki Murakami, Stieg Larsson, Isabel Allende, Arturo Pérez Reverte...I cannot say my favourites because I got many, very different, and also this is constantly changing as myself!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Voluntary work with disabled people in Morocco, spanish teaching for inmigrants, delivering food to homeless people in Madrid with more volunteers. I don´t know if it is incredible or not, but definitely that make me feel that we are in this world to make others a bit happier.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am good by myself but also enjoy a lot other´s company, I love conversations. I try to learn everyday about people around me, understand and respect other points of view. Communication and adaptation are the key skills for the XXI century.
