ABOUT ME

Hi! we are Maria and Alejo, an argentine couple in our mid thirties. We consider ourselves relaxed, easygoing, friendly and positive thinking folks who enjoy discovering new places, making new friends and sharing moments and conversations that allow you to connect with people. Over the last years we have been living in Northeast Brazil where we run a kiteboarding school.

PHILOSOPHY

Be happy

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are constantly inviting new people we meet for eating and staying over if needed. We are in this healthy habit way before knowing about CS, and have done it far more times off the grid. In Brazil we live in a National Park by the beach without internet connection and are unable to do it the CS way since it is impossible for us to follow up on the couchsurfers. In Argentina we are more able to do so, and we had received home some travelers. So far we have never asked for couches but would definitely do so when travelling to spots without acquaintances.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It has been great. Everyone we have met who are on CouchSurfing are people who prefer meeting the locals, knowing who they are, how they live and what spots they like from their own place, rather than being just another tourist after the typical postcard snapshots. That is our way too!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music takes an important part of my life. There´s always something playing in the background. My music tastes are so vast that it is practically impossible to define; it is pretty much everything but commercial radio hits, slow pop tunes, some scary types of extreme heavy metal and tacky dance electronics. I get the greatest thrills when listening to something new and am as much a music collector as I am a music fan. Even though I usually do not listen many times to the same albums I have worn out some like London Callin` by The Clash, Exodus by Bob Marley, The Velvet Underground & Nico, Miles Smiles by Miles Davis, 40 oz to Freedom by Sublime, Puta`s Fever by Mano Negra, The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Dale Aborigen! by Todos Tus Muertos, Surrender by The Chemical Brothers, Rey Azucar by Los Fabulos Cadillacs, Loco Live by Ramones, L.A. Woman by The Doors, Are You Experienced? By Jimmy Hendrix, Clandestino by Manu Chao, Radio Etiopia by Patty Smith, Check Your Head by The Beastie Boys, Energy by Operation Ivy, Monster Movie by Can, Ten by Peal Jam, Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin, and few others. We both love going to live shows but for the time being we enjoy smaller shows in pubs rather than the huge festivals in stadiums.
We also enjoy good films. Nevertheless, we have been without a tv set for ages so we don`t watch that many; probably one a week at the most. When those moments come we rather stay out of the random blockbusters and try to find something more interesting. Hollywood is producing more and more lousy films each time and other countries` industries are getting better and better. We are big documentaries fans. Some of the ones we

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We consider that everything is amazing if you are into that mindset. Every place we had been, every friend we had met, every experience we had lived, every teaching we had received and every happy moment we had shared were extremely amazing for us. Having said that, there were some highlights though: crossing the Amazon river, climbing Machu Pichu, visiting aborigine villages in the jungle, opening a Bed & Breakfast and bar by the beach that allowed us to make great friends and share awesome moments, doing the Vipassana meditation courses, swimming in the Lençois Maranhenses lagoons, and building our own house from scratch.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are very passionate about learning new stuff, try to share as much as possible and to teach the few things we know.
