Hello , my name is Maria Santana and i'm from Portugal .

I am a cheerful, zippy and dreamy girl, I began to take anthropology that I could not finish because I started to work, in various jobs like attendance to the public, and tourism, street vending, participation in festivals, agricultural and fram works, and also participated volunteer work , both in Portugal, France, Iceland and thailand.

I am a very sociable and curious girl, I searching to meet new people, learn new ways of thinking and to do some pratical things, sharing culture and learn about many cultures like have a participacion inside sometimes when is possibel.

Not only travel to know more about the world but also looking for how I can lead a self-sustaining and quiet life for the present and future, like trying to learn new things, for exemple about how to build a house (or a cabana or even a greenhouse) using material and recycling techniques , how to set up a vegetable garden and take care of some animals (farming),learnig about wildlife etc always respecting the natural environment and the planet.

I had two years living in a community house in Coimbra,Portugal that promoted feminist, student and people's rights activism, where we worked on awareness projects, organization of events, both festive and artistic, community help, cooperation as other existing events, struggles of law, as an autonomous community and dealing with people/students from all over the world.

I have the drive license and for heavys cars too .

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am here because I try to have a different experience in the concept of traveling as a tourist. I try to travel outside and inside, knowing myself and the world where I live in your current as in the past and projecting at same time the future.

And to add, it's also the only way that I can do it sustainably, because I do not have the funds to travel in any other way.

Interests

Im a adventure girl , so I try to explore new cultures like nature, new places unknown or little famous, as well as exhibitions of nature such as waterfalls, forests, volcanoes, mountains, sea, coral caves, wildlife, etc. And history of the past , like ancient historical places too.

Observing nature, wildlife , it is my favorite hobby and i am a animals lover.
I love the sea , and the sea is my therapist.

I m also try to enter to the world of some radical sports like climbing, scuba diving, snorkeling , arborism among others.

I like to do things together as well as I like to make plans alone and to be open to what appears and change the rotine.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am very grateful when someone show me different types of music and share tastes. I hear a little of everything, mainly new artists with very alternative music as well as all over the world.
I do not really love watching movies, but it fascinates me immensely the documentaries and scientific investigations.
It happening the same with the books ,i like more the scientific actions, works, theories, etc, thant historys.
