About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Trying to live a productive life, reaching our potential in all the areas that interest us, arts, food, wine making and what ever else tickles us

ABOUT ME

Maria is studying abroad but Katerina and I both enjoying hosting and meeting new people who's experience can enrich our lives and perhaps our's them.

PHILOSOPHY

Jack-of-some-trades still dealing with the frustration of being too old to fully support Marxism. Now I've returned to Plato, but with enough realistic pessimism to appreciate Dostoevsky and Nietzsche.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We were first introduced to Couch Surfing by our daughter Maria, while she was still an undergrad at St. John's College in Santa Fe some almost 4 years ago. While she was not here full time her objective was to build good travel "karma". At the time we had no idea what we were getting into, however after our first couple of Surfers we were on board and have enjoyed every surfer we have hosted. No regrets!!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have up to now only hosted, but we have made such great friends and have visted several of them in their home countries on our travels.

Interests

Music, reading, cooking, studying languages, daydreaming about future travels.

Music, Movies, and Books

We enjoy jazz and classical music, and when the occasion calls we can be found listening to popular and older Greek music such as Rembetika.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Life is amazing all by itself if you let it flow. The people you meet, the places you go, with no preconceived expectations, often provide the greatest experiences.
I would say that perhaps the single most influential event for me was when I took a trip to Greece to find my relatives, for what was to be a 6 week trip and ended up being a 9 yr odyssey. Along with so many other things, I met and married Katerina, and we have been together for almost 40 yrs, and produced our beautiful daughter Maria.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have spent 10 years teaching Culinary Arts and love to share this skill.
