About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travelling around Latin America getting actively involved in sustainable tourism projects. Currently living in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

ABOUT ME

My name is Laura and I'm from Argentina.
I am a positive and easygoing person, always trying to see the bright side of things.
I love travelling so I decided to study Tourism. I was working in a travel agency, selling "Work and Travel'' trips for argentineans to go abroad, when I decided I wanted to live that experience myself, instead of just selling it. So I quit my job, finished my bachelor degree and got a working holidays visa to New Zealand!
I have been away from home for 10 years now, doing all kind of jobs. Lived in Miami for 3 months, New Zealand for 2 years, Australia for 3 years, Italy for 3 years and The Netherlands for 3 months.
Since April 2018 together with my partner Stefan from Serbia, we have been travelling from Argentina to Mexico getting hands on involved in responsible tourism with our project Echoes of the Journey www.echoesofthejourney.com
We are currently in Mexico but going back to Italy in November.
Still trying to find our place in the world!

PHILOSOPHY

Challenge yourself!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined in 2013 and participated in many of the events in Brisbane.
In 2014 we did a road trip with my sister around Australia and surfed for the first time in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. It was a great experience, we had awesome hosts who helped us with advice, took us to great places around the cities and share nice moments together.
In Europe I travel a bit and surfed again, meeting great people.
I think that how much we enjoy a place depends in a great way on the people we meet and share the experience with, and Couchsurfing really enriches your experience.

Interests

Travelling, biking, meeting new people, learning languages, writing, photography. I would also like to learn to play the guitar!

Music, Movies, and Books

I usually like movies about real life situations, things that could happen to anyone or that you can feel identified with.
I am not a great reader but I'm trying to change that. Lately I am interested in Argentinean history to better understand how our country got to the situation it is today.
I prefer quiet music, like Coldplay, John Myer, Ed Sheeran but I'm open and listen many other types of music. I really like latin music like salsa, merengue, bossanova, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The 10- month journey around Latin America we have recently completed with my partner was life changing. We learned so much about each country, its people and about ourselves, both personal and professional.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could help with Spanish or English and I could share Argentina's typical drink: "the mate" that I always take with me. I can also help with travel plans to all the places I have visited. With my hosts, I would love to learn about their city and country, their customs and habits. I would also really like to exchange ideas about entrepreneurship, as this is something we would like to do once we are back in Europe.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can help with spanish if they are interested in learning. I am not a great cook but my partner Stefan is, so we can organize nice dinners and cook italian or Serbian food. And of course tell them about my culture, share some "mates" and my passion for travelling!
