Hi, I'm Mariam from Georgia, and no, it's not one of the states of USA :) It's a small, beautiful republic near Russia, but not the part of it as many people think.
I am a law student at Tbilisi State University in Georgia, but right now I am doing my Erasmus+ exchange program in Iasi, Romania till the end of June 2017.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Even though it is not my first time being abroad ( I have lived in United States for a year as an exchange student), it is the first time when I am officially an adult and have my own money to travel, which has always been my lifelong dream. Even back then when every kid's dream in my class was to become either a teacher or a doctor, I dreamed of exploring the world :)
I have decided to join this amazing website to meet the locals of my dream countries, because I think to fully appreciate and taste the uniqueness of a country, you need a native's help :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I live and breathe reading, so I have lots and lots of favorite books that could be quite different from one another in genre or context. Those are the few ones that have made greatest impressions on me so far: "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "Master and Margarita", "One Hundred Years of Solitude", "The Da Vinci Code", "Angels & Demons", "Beware of Pity," "Letter From An Unknown Woman", "The Diary of Anne Frank" and last, but not least, the Harry Potter series that has made my childhood ^^
I am a huge movie buff, but to be honest, not the biggest fan of horror genre :) I prefer historical dramas like "Gladiator", "Braveheart", "Troy", "Alexander" and so on. Other than that I love a bit older movies such as "Once Upon a Time in America", "Nuevo Cinema Paradiso," "Legends of the Fall," "Meet Joe Black," "Leon: The Professional"...
Also I happen to be a great fan of "Game of Thrones" TV show, team Daenerys :)
For favorite music genre, I would say raggae, but I can't leave out indie rock either; "Florence and Machine", "The Arctic Monkeys" being my favorite bands. As for the solo artists, I like Sting and Lana Del Rey.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My country is known for its hospitality, cuisine and beautiful places. If you ever decide to visit it, I can advice you which regions and towns you should visit, what national foods you should try and etc., to get the most out of your experience with considerably lower prices that usually tourists without a guidance spend. Also I can show you around the capital, Tbilisi, where I study and my home region, Kakheti, which is also home of delicious wine that you can taste for free because almost every family in Kakheti makes it :)
