ABOUT ME

I was born in Kyiv and it`s still my home city that I love. Those who know me, describe me as an easy-going, open-minded and creative person with a good sense of humor
When the war has started, I had to look for a safer place to stay with my 3 daughters. Since march I`m staying in Austria at my good friends. Here I`m working as therapist online with people from different countries and offline with Ukrainian refugees.
I`m not very experienced in coachsurfing, but still I have pretty much experience of travelling and meeting new people and exploring other cultures and mindsets.
I`ve got my first experience of living abroad in a different cultural environment at the age of 5, right after the Chernobyl disaster. We`ve spent half a year in Kirgizstan and Uzbekistan at our relatives.
My next long-term experience of deep diving into other culture was on 2001, when I`ve spent a year in Netherlands in Utrecht as an Erasmus student on exchange. I took the courses on social philosophy and media psychology there. But the most important part was my amazing social experience in international environment, that I`ve got there and that had a tremendous impact on my personal development.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies, cartoons: I don`t watch much during the last year, because it feels I`m living inside some movie.
What impressed me recently were the serials "Good Omens" (love it), "Doctor Who", “Breaking Bad” and “Expansion”. Movies “Don`t look up”, “Interstellar”, among old and loved ones “La Vita e Bella” and “The Labyrinth of Fawn”. I always love all cartoons by Hayao Miyazaki.

Music: almost all music my teenage daughters put on in the car, while I drive) I`m quite open to different styles, depending on my mood. I like “Apocalyptica”, “Bjork”, “Kaleo”, most of modern Ukrainian folk-rock music and some weird Scandinavian bands like “Heilung”, “Faun” etc.

Books: Irving Yalon, Books: The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk M.D, books and podkasts by Robert Sapolsky like Behave: The Biology of Humans at Our Best and Worst. Fanny Flagg “Fried Green Tomatos”, Marguerite Duras “The Lover”, books by Ray Bradberry, Terry Pratchet and “American Gods” by Neil Gaiman.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It`s not easy to chose one. What comes to my mind right now is an elevation on Kazbek Mountain (5000+ meters, in Geougia).
Maybe it metaphorically describes many other things I`ve done in my life
