Hello! My name is Mariana, though people usually call me Mari. I'm from Argentina and I'm 20 years old. I'm studying Spanish-English translation, so asides from Spanish I'm also fluent in English. I also study Japanese, I started three years ago and I adore it, although my conversation level is still poor.

I'm a relaxed and calm person. I'm very creative and I write poetry and stories, I love having interesting conversations about a lot of topics. I'm a very curious person and I'm really looking forward to exchanging my culture with others. I really like music and I read a lot of books. I also really really love learning languages!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to make friends and meet Japanese people while I'm in Japan. I'd like to make friends that can take me to nice places and would like to walk around and have a relaxing lunch/tea or coffee/ dinner. I also want to practise a lot of Japanese-
I will be staying mainly in Tokyo, but I will also be going to Kansai for a week.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm listening to a lot of Japanese music lately and I would like to be introduced to more great artists. I listen to a lot of modern Japanese bands and also some Japanese artists from the 80s.
I like King Gnu, RADWIMPS, Aimyon, SHE IS SUMMER, SEKAI NO OWARI, Masaki Suda, KANA-BOOM, back number, BUMP OF CHICKEN.

I also listen to a lot of music in English and Spanish. I listen to pop, rock, classical, movie soundtracks, indie, instrumental, etc.

Books: I love Harry Potter and a lot of English and Japanese authors. My favourite Japanese books are Haruki Murakami's Norweigan Wood, Hiromi Kawakami's The Briefcase. I also like Natsume Soseki.

Movies: I watch a lot of Japanese dramas and watch movies from time to time. I really like Studio Ghibli and Disney. My favourite movies are (500) Days of Summer, Her, Coco, Spirited Away, and Whispers of the Heart.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I studied in London for two weeks, went to an English school and stayed with a British host family. In another trip, I was in Paris and walked around that gorgeous city. I also went to Venice and it was absolutely gorgeous.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English and Spanish, I teach as a part-time job so I have teaching experience. I can talk about my culture and about everything I know. I'm open to sharing everything about me. I can share my Latin culture and my language knowledge :)
