Hello! My name is Mariana, but you can call me Mari. I'm a 21 years student of Cinema and New Medias at Universidade Federal Fluminense in Niterói, Brazil.
In the first half of 2019 I lived in Thessaloniki for studying a semester abroad (kind like Erasmus) and got in contact with the couchsurfing community there

I'm a bit shy but at the same time outgoing, talkative when I'm feeling comfortable and adventurous. I love to get to know different places and cultures and people and understand how their life's are. I'm also vegan

I want to travel around in life and not only to know the places in a tourist way, only going to monuments etc., but mainly getting to know local people and theirs life's and their relationship with the city. Now that I am back I'm my home country and city I want to hang out with couchsurfing people to keep speaking English or others languages aside from Portuguese, to show them around my city and also to still keep contact with different people an cultures :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As of now I'm living in Thessaloniki for a study program more or less like Erasmus, but I don't have a scolarship. As Brazil is really far away from Europe and I don't know when I will have the chance to come back here, I want to travel as much as possible and get to know as many different cultures as possible, but my budget is small and I don't want lack of money to limit me. That's why being on couchsurfing and finding more accessible ways of being hosted is essencial. Also, I believe that the cultural exchanges I may find here will be lovely! A great way to know new people!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Lorde, and Grimes. I also love classical music and going to concerts. Movies I like in general, principally documentaries and art independent fictional movies. I also must confess that as a good cinema student I love marvel (don't judge me! It's great!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to speak english, Portuguese, and basic german, Greek and spanish. I can teach you a bit of them. I also know lots of things about cinema, photography, music and sound. I can draw and paint too. I like to meditate and do stretches in the morning, and also I love to cook vegan food, principally sweet. Would defiantly bake you a cake or cookies :D

What I Can Share with Hosts

Knowledge and fun times and weird informations about cinema and art and veganism. I would love to teach languages in any way possible, even the ones I'm also a beginner in! Best way to learn more myself. I can also bake nice sweets and other vegan recipes. And I like to stretch myself and meditate so I maybe could teach some of those things and we could make them together. Also, I can be a great company for going to cinema or just watching a movie at home :)
