About Me

If you feel like I don’t have enough photos here feel free to check out my IG account: @marividotti. 📷

Hello! I hope you are doing well. I am a 25 yo Brazilian girl living in France as an au pair. I will give you a resume about my life so you can know me a little bit. I'll try not to be long, but I always find it difficult to be short with words, so I apologize in advance.

I studied languages at school, Portuguese/Spanish, and in 2014 I lived in Santiago de Compostela, Spain for 6 months through an exchange program to go to school there. I was only 20yo back then and that was my first time in Europe. I can only say I had the best time ever! Visited 5 countries and fell in love with this continent. I couchsurfed for my first time in Paris and had a really nice experience. Although I was willing to have guests in the apartment I shared with a friend back then, we never had any requests, unfortunately.

After Spain I moved back to Brazil and finished my studies in 2015. I lived for almost 5 years in a very nice city where I went to school and shared a house with one of my best friends. We had some people moving in and out for short periods, even foreigners that would go to my University for a couple of weeks to study. We were always willing to host people. I had a very nice experience having people from other countries over and that was when I started to improve my English.

Once I graduated I moved to the USA, in 2016, as an au pair, where I lived for two years and a half, in Des Moines, Iowa and Alamo, California (40 min from San Francisco). I had an amazing experience living in the US where I got to improve my English and live the american culture.. I lived with two different families, very nice and kind, and took care of incredible little ones that I will always miss.

Again, after the experience in USA, now at 25 yo, I decided to be an au pair, this time in Europe, because I wanted to learn the French language. And where better than France to learn French, right? I did try Belgium at first and lived in Knokke-Heist on the coast side for two months, but couldn't find French classes so I found this really nice family whom I live with in the South of France and moved down here in mid March-2019.

Currently I've been just studying French and trying to plan a couple of trips while here. Gotta enjoy Europe, right? I haven't been able to host anyone for a while since I have been living with families for the past 3 years. But once I'm settled back in Brazil (next year for sure!!) I'll be happy to have some travelers over to share experiences, moments and memories.

I have learned a lot about myself all these years living abroad and been discovering myself still, but I do know what I like, now, more than ever. I'm a very calm and would say easygoing kind of person, but know my limits and preferences. I am clean, organized, trustworthy and responsible. I can say I'm always down to walk around the city and discover places, grab some food (or cook) and have a good conversation or even just do nothing and chill watching Netflix, haha. It depends on my mood. But I do assure you I am an outgoing, happy, dynamic, open-minded and good person. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I'm very communicative and like connecting with people. I like seeing different personalities and cultures and learning from them. I believe everyone is special in their own way and observing, respecting and learning how to deal with people different than you is part of growing.

MY EXPERIENCE AS A HOST
I have hosted many times some friends at my home in Votuporanga, my home town, or in my student city, in São José do Rio Preto. I like helping people who are visiting the place I live by showing them around and taking them to do different activities and see different good places to eat or drink. I do know a lot about my country and can show you the best food, deserts, drinks and will make you try the best tropical juices we have! You will love it.

Interests

I like reading (although I don't do that as often as I'd like to), watching movies, going to cultural presentations such as plays, dance, concerts, etc. Used to love to hang out and going partying but now I feel like I've done that so much and the age is getting to me, so I don't do it as often anymore. But I do love dancing and I'm always down for this kind of program.

This year I've been more interested in sports and being healthy so I started to run and eat better but I do want to attend the gym in the future and start practicing a sport, like tennis or boxing. I also love to camp as I was a scout from 5-15 yo and had camped many times.

And I always like to have good conversations, with some good food, music and maybe a drink. Traveling and meeting people has become natural in my life as I have traveled a lot and lived in 5 countries, so I'm very respectful and curious about different cultures, places and people. I would love to know more about you and your country. Also, my new favorite kind of program, that I recently adopted, is definitely game night + cooking!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm ecletyc, I like pretty much all kinds of music. A little bit of everything. From Backstreet Boys to Beatles, for example, lol. But mostly pop.

I like romantic books and detective novels. I like Dan Brown a lot. Memoirs of a Geisha, Millennium (by Stieg Larsson) and Child 44 are some of my favorite books.

I love musical, drama, rom-com and suspense! I love so many movies.. it's a loooong list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My experience travelling began when I was 15 years old and had my first trip abroad with my mom, by bus. We went to Machu Picchu crossing Bolivia and Peru for 15 days. The trip was a gift for my 15 yo birthday because it is a special birthday that we celebrate in Brazil. It was just magical exploring the world for the first time with my mom, both of us fascinated with what we were seeing. Since then I fell in love with discovering different cultures and travelling. That was back in 2008 and it was the most special trip I have done so far.
