Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just started solo traveling last year in Belize and stayed in hostels and had a great time meeting new people from around the world. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories, the world is a big place and I want to meet as many as I can!
Couchsurfing seems to be a community of folks that don't want that sterile hotel cookie cutter experience.
I would rather make a new friend then just pass through.

Interests

I love good local food anywhere. Visit family as often as budget and time allow, and am just beginning to travel solo.

I have been a Grateful Dead fan since 1978, but my interests go from rock to soul to alternative and R and B.
I am a mystery fan when it comes to books. James Lee Burke is a favorite.
I love lots of types of movies except any type of horror.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very involved in helping to raise my grandchildren. Sometimes it takes a village.... I love the beach and take them as often as possible to teach them of the birds, sea life, and the power of water. I take them on trips around Texas to learn their State and have taken them to Philadelphia to see and experience history there.
Would like to eventually commit more time to other volunteer work when not needed as I am now at home.
