Overview
About Me
I grew up in England and Germany with a pretty large family - I'm the middle child of five siblings in total and although we used to hate each other as kids, we now all get along pretty well. Might be because most of us moved out from home by now and we don't see each other as often ;)
I'm still friends with the people I grew up with even though only two of them still remain in our hometown while the rest of them have moved away into different corners of Germany.
Keeping in touch with the people I've known for 10 years is very important to me and we do that mostly through social media, namely facebook.
While I am online via phone all day, I'm not really an avid public user - in fact you can probably still find birthday wishes from last year at the top of my public profile. I primarily use it for private messaging. If anybody wants to shooto me one, go ahead!
I'm doing my final year of school right now and want to see some of the world before starting university in fall.
I'm really, really excited about my upcoming trip and a friend and I are also planning a trip through Asia in June.
Also,
If anybody is looking for somebody to meet up with in the Hamburg/Northern Germany area don't hesitate to send me a message! I'd like to show you around a bit, my hometown is a well-known tourist location because of its buildings and history!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'll be travelling from the US East Coast to the West Coast throughout June and I would love to get to know cool people and places all over the US!
Whether you'd like to meet up, go out or, grab a coffee or maybe even offer me your couch, I'd be happy to get to know you.
Interests
History, traveling, meeting new people, watching movies, food, fitness, concerts
Music, Movies, and Books
I mostly listen to rock music. My favourites include The Killers, The Smiths and The Libertines but obviously I could list 50 bands I love here!
My favourite book series would have to be the Harry Potter books (I know... but I can't help it, they're wonderful and I grew up with them) and I also like the works of Haruki Murakami and Bret Easton Ellis.
I used to read a lot when I was a teenager, sadly this has mostly been replaced with watching films and TV shows (I especially love Shameless and Game of Thrones).
My favourite movies include Cloud Atlas (horribly underrated in my opinion), the Lord of the Rings trilogy of course (The Hobbit not so much... Peter, why?) and a lot of other stuff. Again I could list of ton of films here.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hard to narrow down one single thing out of all the nearly-amazing things I've done. ;) I don't think something truly amazing worth of note has happened (yet!).
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to give crash courses in German or receive them in any other language you feel like teaching me.
I'd also like to educate anyone who is interested on German culture and history of and after WWII since I believe there's still a lot of stereotypes and unclarities out there - same as for other countries I'm sure.
I'm hoping to see a different side to Americans who are typically portrayed in a rather unflattering way in the media.
I was told I'm pretty good at making crêpe and pancakes so I guess that would be one thing I could offer my hosts - whether it would be for breakfast, lunch or dinner, a nice crêpe would be just 5 minutes away!
I'm not sure if that really is a special skill since they are pretty easy to make though!
