CURRENT MISSION

To become an abstract concept.

ABOUT ME

Hi there, please to meet you! I'm Marianne a Québécoise, French-speaking Canadian from Montréal. Pretty confident in saying that I am a very social person. I am very curious about everything and will always love to explore and learn more. Travel is a big part of my life and has brought to me precious memories and precious friendships.

Facts about me: I love Indian and arabic food, assembling IKEA furniture, avocadoes, losing time on Google Maps and cats. During travels I like randomly wander in buildings and bike in new areas. Oh and I also love playing tricks on people!

PHILOSOPHY

Written in 2015: I believe in the complexity and constant change in every human being and for this reason meeting new souls all the time is a hobby of mine. I suppose that my philosophy, if I have one, would tend to be close to the Impressionist one. I live in the present and always get amaze by the range of impressions received all the time. So as you might have guessed by now, I can be pretty passive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

First started to do couchsurfing when I was travelling around Europe in 2014-15.
It was an amazing way to meet people and share with them while I stayed at their places. I met amazing friends through it and lived some unforgettable adventures. Afterwhich, 2 of my friends that hosted me in Spain came to my place in Montréal with their friends.

Now I am willing to host couchsurfers!

Interests

Travelling, of course! Other than that I practice different art forms such as photography, theatre, street performances and crafts. I have also a growing interest in installations and multimedia (very lucky to live in Montréal as this city hosts many festivals of projections or virtual performances). Also love music and discovering new bands :) . Lastly I love politic and sociology and I am always willing to have discussions to learn more about these two or have a feminist debate.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ouf! I used to read a lot! However since I have been at University I have to admit that I do not read as mush as I used to. When I find the time though, I read mostly women authors and South America literature.

Regarding music I'm the Queen of old kitsch French songs from France! That said I love pretty much anything, reggae, jazz, blues, electronic, classic, reggaeton, etc. I appreciate literally everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I first started this account, I was travelling by myself in Western Europe which proved to be both a very challenging experience and the best thing I have ever done! I was 19 when I left and just finished Cegep (college here) and had no idea what my next step would be. I decided on a whim to buy a one-way ticket and do wwoofing in old castles accross UK. I ended up travelling to others countries, learning new languages and came back a little bit after 6 months as I was by then both illegal in Europe and also broke. Still, this was the best experience and on a personal level this has shapep a lot who I am today.

Teach, Learn, Share

While I am doing my undergraduate study here in Montreal it is hard to travel for long period of time. I sure do miss the feeling here in our cold winter.
So I would very much consider sharing my space and hosting. The only problems that I enconter are that:
1-My schedule at work can be unpredictable and I know it only one week in advance;
2-My roommate is shy and doesn't like intrusion in her space or sharing it with strangers. I couldn't host anyone for a long period of time and it would have to be discussed with her. We're like sisters, we've known eachothers since we were 4 years old!

LEARN: I need to practice my Spanish and therefore for the time being will only host Spanish speakers!
Also I have two guitars here but I'm terrible at it so guitar players are most welcome.

TEACH: I can teach you French, film photography, we can do all sorts of crafts, I can make you discover my city :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

There is a few basics I can definitely share, starting with teaching French or knitting, share literature knowledge, take pictures and show off my stupid Old English handwriting.

That said, my biggest pleasure in life certainly is to play tricks and to get out of the main comfort zone in public with friends. It won't necessarily happens, but if you're a bit crazy, we will certainly live the silliest stories under the constant flow of theatrical ideas that always submerges me.
