Overview
About Me
Born in 1954, I am a California trained-based Visual Artist (Drawing and Painting); divorced. In my earlier years, I worked semi-professionally as a classically-trained musician then ventured into all genres; briefly taught music. In 1978, I returned to art studies and once more, again, in the mid-to-late 1980s; have shown my work regionally/internationally.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I enjoy meeting new people, especially, from other nations. Although, I grew up in California, I was born in Japan to an American citizen father and a Japanese national mother; to those whom many other Americans would view as "foreigners," I am naturally more sensitive to regarding as kindred spirits.
I was referred to Couchsurfing in 2010 by the college-aged son of neighbors who'd had nothing but wonderful things to say about the organization, how it functions, its safety precautions and so forth, so, it seemed a wonderful way to get together with and get to know travellers to Southern California, as well as folks I'd meet in my own travels elsewhere.
Interests
As an artist, my interests are fairly vast: Reading (all subject matter); art exhibitions; film; theatre; musical performances (all genres); anything of historical value highly interests me (monuments; buildings, etc.); cooking (diverse tastes); amateur wine/spirits enthusiast; toys; miniatures; fashion.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: All genres. Films: Truly, too many to recount; ditto, books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Learned to draw people without using live models.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd like to teach others the value of history, in all of its colors and nuances; the story of history is the story of *people*. I can never expand my knowledge of people and their customs worldwide but I am ever-thirsty to learn. I'd like to share the many different aspects of my life, the lessons I've learned with others.
What I Can Share with Hosts
In between my music and fine art studies, I managed to earn an Associates in English Literature; English as a language fascinates me and the language spoken in Southern California is particularly colorful and fun to share; I can share housekeeping and cooking duties and am not averse to babysitting children under 12, if need be.
