About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My mission currently, together with my boyfriend, is to see the world and experience different people and cultures, before I settle down and find a job, have a family, etc. We have also opened our home to other couchsurfers, a great way to meet people!
ABOUT ME
Meeee... I love to joke around and make puns, others describe me as "witty." I think I get that from my mom :) I love to read and watch movies, it can be a problem with time management. I have lots of ideas and not the best work ethic, which is why I'm so proud I'm putting this trip to Europe together, FINALLY, I've been wanting to go for a couple years!
One of my biggest passions is cooking. I love to do it, all the time, for relaxation and for fun, and especially for other people. Cooking is love.
I also have a passion for animals. I have one cat, named Pepe Sylvia. But I've had many more pets in the past. I volunteered at the SPCA for a little while even though it made me cry every time.
I live with my boyfriend Kevin, who is coming on this trip with me. I've done most of the planning but I think his heart is in it too :) He's just not a planner. Kevin is very intelligent, outgoing, and has a quirky sense of humor. We balance each other out, and I think this trip will be good for us, and for people we meet too!
PHILOSOPHY
Well, this is one I hope to develop more on my travels. I'm not sure if it's naive, but in general I see the good in things. I don't usually go out of my way to get to know people, but once I do, I see the best in them. I want to improve my people skills by couchsurfing.
I know people are capable of being good, and I think there is an inherent good in everyone, but modern conveniences and the infiltration of money into every facet of life has made people act on their more evil impulses. I try to stay true to the goodness of human nature, respecting the environment and all its living species. Some people think this is "hippyish" but whatever. I'm not perfect either, but I just try to make everyone happy. It might cost a little more to buy local grass-fed beef, but it makes me feel a lot better, is better for my body, better for the environment, better for the local farmer, and better for the cow. That's a big part of my philosophy. A little personal sacrifice goes a long way.
Also, cooking is love.
Never harm an innocent person or animal.
Kevin enjoys a good debate, he likes what I like. "Live and let live" he says.
We can talk about philosophies when we meet :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We are only just recent members, and have hosted a stranger once. I have hosted people I know plenty of times before, and always make an effort to show them a good time. I try to respond and communicate with everyone who contacts me, even if hosting doesn't work out. We are open to hosting until we move out and head to Europe. At that point, we hope to meet people and really get a feel for the areas we visit by focusing on couchsurfing rather than hotels. Not to mention we are on a budget ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking down into the Grand Canyon with Kevin was one of the most amazing things we have done in our lifetime. So beautiful at sunrise, the drops are exhilarating, taking everything in just makes you appreciate the vastness and timelessness of your surroundings.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can certainly share my knowledge and skills concerning cooking. I am in no way an expert, but I know what it takes to do it well. I can share my passion and care for ingredients, patience, creativity.
I can definitely learn from people I meet- different circumstances, cooking styles, locations, ingredients.. can't wait!
Kevin can share his technical knowledge with anyone interested in learning- how things work, how to fix things, why things are the way they are...
