About Me

Hi, I'm Mariana, but some call me Meri, from @Meritattoon. I graduated in Fashion Design four years ago, and after working like a fashion designer for a few years, I made a radical change in my career and lifestyle, when I gave up of the full time job and started traveling and working like a freelancer, (and in many other part time jobs, just to keep going). During this time I met Mauricio and we started traveling together. It was on the road that I learned how to tattoo and I couldn't stop anymore. Now, after two years on the road, we decided to seatle down in Rio de Janeiro, where we both work like tattoo artists and do many other creative stuffs. We are a couple of open minded artists that like to meet interesting people and share experiences. We don't eat meet but also don't mind if you do. Everybody is different and that's why is so nice to travel, it's in the difference that you grow, but you have to be open to do it.
I believe that anyone have something to learn and something to tech, and that's why I'm here!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm in Couchsurfing to meet different people and because it's a great way of traveling . Forgive my english, I learned all I know just listening to music, watching movies and being interested about the language, and want to learn more. More english, more italian, more spanish, more french, more everything! Couchsurfing helped a lot when I was on the road and now I want to help back.

Interests

Art. I can't live without music and rock was my first passion, but now I'm exploring diferent universes. I love pop art but also listen to classic music, I think street art is amazing but also feel pleasure to be all day walking on an art gallery. I don't listen brazilian popular songs at home but I can have fun with this on a party. I love nature and I respect all the plants and animals, and I expect the same from you. I don't eat meat, but I also don't believe in any kind of radicalism. I'm not religious, but I'm curious about it, and I'm very interested about psicology and filosofy, but I'm far away about being a specialist. I am feminist, and this is very strong for me. I read, I write, and I'm drawing all the time. I like to go ot but there are times all I need is to be alone and in silence, balance is all I search in my life. LGBTS!

Music, Movies, and Books

Righ now I'm listening to Marvin Gaye in the radio. I like rock, blues, jazz, classical music, trip hop, experimental and some eletronics. I think the albuns I listened most last year were: Mala - Devendra Banhart, In Rainbows - Radiohead, Blacksands - Bonobo, The Music Scene - Blockhead, Tops, Jungle, Gramatik, etc etc.
Movies, the last I saw I liked very much was Les Amours Imaginaires, Interestellar, Her, The Science of Sleep, Donnie Darko... I like to explore independent and foreing movies. About books, I'm reading brazilian literature right now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

That's difficult to think in a specific moment, I think the last incredible thing I did (at least for me) was resign of my job and decide to travel. The two months I spend in Rio de Janeiro were wonderful, there were moments I'm sure I'll never forget, like watching the sunset in Lagoa, visiting the Botanical Gardens with my family or being in a street party in the Historic Center with new friends from Argentina.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can practice english with anyone, and portuguese, and I want to learn italian and french so much, just because I think that's very beautiful. I love to draw and sew and I could teach it to anybody who wants to learn, I know a lot about the fashion world too... But now I'm very into tattooing, so, who loves tattoos are welcome!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I do tattoos. I can draw and do different kinds of art like murals and etc. I can take care of children, practice different languages, share music, tastes and life!
