About Me

I am currently working as a Scholar and an English Teaching Assistant with the Fulbright association in Germany.
I am a down to earth person that loves to travel, and volunteer around the world. I have lived all over the world and have been to 20 countries. I love to make new friends along the way. I consider myself to be a very curious individual, I spend most of my time with a good book or sketching. I have always had a great passion for learning about new cultures and the ever-changing world around me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've learned that the best way to travel is to interact with the locals and learn from their perspective. I also want to take a more active role in fulfilling my responsibility as a Global Citizen by having diverse experiences around the world and learning how I can contribute. I love meeting and making connections with host families and friends around the world and tryying new things especially traditional home cooked meals. Best experience by far, are always around the kitchen:)

Interests

Any creative outlet like painting, drawing, dancing (West African) and cooking. I have a passion for psychology and how the mind works, especially in Tibetan Buddhist traditions through meditation. I am an active person and love to be surrounded by nature and go hiking on long trips. I love to go horseback riding. I also love Archery as well (Would love to learn how to do Horseback Archery one day). Travel is a big one for me.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite books are The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury, A Fine Balance by Rohinton Ministry, and The Island by Aldous Huxley. Favorite movie is Big Fish, Requiem for a Dream and Fantasia 1940's Disney. Favorite music is Queen, Simon and Garfunkle and the London Philharmonic Symphony (PInk Floyd, Led Zepplin Lord of the Rings cover).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I treked through Kanchenjunga National park to reach the summit. Where I woke up early to see the the starry night sky of Himalayans transition to the sun rising over the world's highest peaks.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have many skills that are based on creativity. I am a skilled painter, I love to paint just about anything (I have painted houses, painted community murals, street art, theater production, canvases, and bodies in 4 different countries). I am a youth Rec leader at home and have worked in many different programs with children between the ages of 4-15.

I have facilitated Art Workshops in my local community and in my internships abroad working with diverse populations. I know how to make kites from scratch, do multiple mini art projects, teach people how to draw express themselves, I can share my practice in yoga and meditation for those who are open. I can also teach English and West African dance.

I can share my traveling experiences and observations I've made about different cultures. I would be open to learning anything somebody wants to share with me. (Especially Horse Back Archery!)
