Overview
About Me
Hello! My name is Marie, I come from France and now live in Belgium for a few years. After studying political science and working for the EU for a few years, I am moving towards becoming a French teacher. I love to travel, my favourite trips include taking the train, tasting new food and walking in beautiful countryside landscapes. I did an Interrail trip up to Istanbul, I took the Transiberian and other trains in post-soviet countries, and crossed half of the US by train! I am fond of learning languages, I like to discover other cultures. I adapt my way of living and traveling to reflect my ecological values. During my free time, I enjoy reading, going for a walk or a run, cooking or discovering a new bar/cafe/restaurant with some friends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to support the perspective of cost-friendly travels, as well as the possibility to meet new people and cultures.
Interests
I love doing sports, especially in a team. I also enjoy very much cooking and baking (even though not too often, I am quite good at making pies, crepes and waffles). I love walking in cities and nature and hiking in the mountains.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love reading novels! I like all books that tell simple stories, either true or realistic, that emphasize feelings and that follow the evoluting state of mind of the characters. I like to discover new authors and styles, recenlty I've been reading Ursula Le Guin (The Birthday of the World), Armistead Maupin (Tales of the City), Miguel Delibes (El Camino) or Geneviève Damas (De l'autre côté de la rivière).
I like listening to music. Depending on my mood, I listen to rock and pop music from 1970 to 2010's, acoustic music (Alan Gogoll for instance), and I am always open to discover new songs!
I don't go to the cinema very often and I don't really watch series, but I like that from time to time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Among the most extraordinary trips I have lived, I would love to tell you more about my experience in the Transiberian or crossing the US!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am open to teach and learn languages, discuss books and nice places to visit, speak about cooking, discovering new things! I am a kind and curious person :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would be happy to give you a guided tour of Brussels when you come, or cook a nice dish from my repertoire!
