About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Know more, see more, meet more people and undertand the world a bit better.

ABOUT ME

I studied International relations/political science, which is my passion, and nothing beats a good (sometimes heated) discussion about politics, religion, philosophy, arts, music... I like open-minded and respectful people who are open to new ideas and who question their surroundings; I am therefore trying to be that way!
I love meeting people, dicovering things, learning stuff, moving around, standing still, wandering around, finding beauty, debating important and not-so-important topics, dancing, laughing...

PHILOSOPHY

I question everything to the furthest point possible, without falling into nihilism and apathy, though.
I believe in people and in their capacity to live freely and equaly, with openness and respect. (ouf, that's a big statement!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have showed Montreal to a lot of couchsurfers, enjoyed their company and stories, learned about their homecountries. I also hosted in Montreal.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed in Toronto, Brussels and Montpellier and I also met many, many couchsurfers hosted by my friends in Montreal, showing them the city and all the great attractions (and good beers!).

Interests

I like to read, ride around town on my bike (and sometimes a bit further), make plans to change the world and drink good beer (often both at the same time).
I like poï (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poi_%28performance_art%29), hula-hooping and circus arts in general (I practiced trapeze for seven years).
I compose songs on my guitare and I would like to learn every instrument there is !
I am interested in urban farming and bike culture, along with other ways to improve urban living to make it viable on the long-term for the people and the environment.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love contemporary and classic stuff, road novels, dystopias (George Orwell ; Margaret Atwood), but I read just about anything I can get my hand on (Hermann Hesse, Murakami, Vargas Llosa, etc.). I also like reading political essays, or essays in general (philosophy, sociology, etc.).

I watch so many types of movies it would be pretty hard to list them here...

I enjoy a lot of different music, from classic rock to blues to punk to folk to bluegrass to electronic to hip hop... you get the idea.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiking across Canada (yeah, those four thousand something kilometers), which has restored my faith in people (most of the time).

Teach, Learn, Share

I practiced Gumboots dance for about seven years, so if anyone's interested in learning a few choreographies, I can teach you!

(The gumboot dance (or isicathamiya) is an African dance that is performed by dancers wearing Wellington boots. In South Africa these are more commonly called gumboots. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gumboot_dance)

I hula-hoop and I can show you some basic tricks, as well as how to make your own hula hoop !

I practice poi and I love showing people some tricks.

I know the basic chords on a guitare.
