About Me

I'm Marie an 19 year old sociology student, political activist and passionate musician. I spend a lot of time thinking about why and how we "organize" our society, what consequences that leads to, but also how we might change some things. That's why I've been a passionate activist, mostly in the environmental bubble, for years and try to do my good there.

But I also love to let myself be influenced by culture in any way - be it art exhibitions, (quite often) alternative movies or concerts, which luckily Vienna has a lot to offer from.
I'm also a sucker for good dancing events, where I get rid of all the daily social norms that hold me from being "strange" in public and just dance off my stress or worries.

In general I'm a pretty extroverted person in that sense, that I enjoy to spend my time with others - even if it's just a light conversation over coffee.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am kind of sick of very unpersonal, superficial Hostel encounters and in general the whole idea of "quick travel". I much more prefer slow and sustainable travelling - in the beginning just because of ecological reasons, but by now also to get some kind of "real" social connection.

It's fascinating to me, to get a glimpse of other people's daily life and their passions, ideas or ideologies - and for even just a short time to maybe be part of it. It shows you, how different people all around the world experience this society but also in the end, that we might all be more similar than we think. (that probably sounds like the standard answer on this, but believe me, that I truly mean that)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dancing a traditional greek folk dance to the island music "Nisiotika" with the local youth of Iraklia.

Sleeping in the Desert of Wadi Rum in Jordan and gazing into the nightsky.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would consider myself a very political and in times also philosophical person, so if we come together I'd love to discuss our point of views on topics like the current political system we live in, capitalism, the envioremental crisis or just in general how we interact as human beings with each other.
But don‘t fear if that sounds very stuck up to you, I also just enjoy cooking together, having a jam session or just a great time out (:

What I Can Share with Hosts

I play piano and violin and have had vocal training lessons for a few years, so if you're interested in learning one of those things I'm happy to try and show you something. I can also teach you a bit German, if you like.
Other than that I can offer you a hopefully interesting conversation, and a mediocre knowledge of cooking. (:

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Spain
