About Me

Although bubbly, I'm a reserved girl.

I am currently working on a collection of short stories. Also, if I could, I would study my entire life: I am currently doind my PhD in Ottawa (in thesis-writing mode right now). So whatever I do, I juggle with words.

I come from a close-knit family. I have three nephews who mean the world to me.

I like to have a drink with friends and set the world to rights with them until the wee hours. And to laugh! I am the best audience EVER.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One of the best way to discover a city or a country is to get to know its people. There is no greater wealth than the friendships you build. When I travel, I want to "breathe" the part of the world I visit. I want to blend. And meet fantastic, interesting people.

Interests

I am a curious geeky girl and proud of it! I know my Star Wars, I can't live without my Tolkien, I really like games, both board and video. I always want to know more about history, politics, art. It is as if my goal is to learn as much as possible in the short time we have on this good earth.

Also, I want to reduce to a minimum my carbon footprint. I am somewhat obsessed with this

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a soft spot for Bowie, Boards of Canada and classical music. I'm pretty much open to discover new styles, new artists.

Lately, I've been mostly binge-watching TV series (Sherlock and Wilfred, two of my most favorite series EVER). I appreciate movies that are unpredictable, like Upstream Color. Also, Shaun of the Dead. Because Simon Pegg, of course. But again, the most important thing is to watch a movie that matches my state of mind. Not long ago, I came across an old Jackie Chan movie: it was midnight and it was exactly what I needed. I have never laughed so hard!

Reading is part of my identity, my life, my work. The list would be waaaaay to long to enumerate. I read every day. I can't help it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At 20 years old, I left everything (family, friends, work) to study acting in Los Angeles. That's the boldest thing I've ever done... and the scariest! It turned my life upside down and changed it, for the better. Whenever I feel depressed or apprehensive, I remember that episode of my life and I find my courage, my joy. It defined me as an adult.
