About Me

Hi, my name's Marie, I am a 20 year-old student. I was born and raised in France, but moved to England for university 3 years ago. I am currently living in Malaysia for my third year abroad.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I get to travel a lot whilst living in Malaysia since it is in the middle of South East Asia and flights are cheap (bless Air Asia!). I usually stay in hostels so that I can meet people and only recently I've heard about couch surfing. A lot of people have told me they got to hang out with locals who showed them around, or served them a traditional meal etc... So why not try it out?

I will be travelling to Japan soon and I really want to try couch surfing there. I'd like people to tell me about their culture, their lifestyle, their food, their city...

Interests

I study International Relations which means that I am interested in the world, its conflicts, dynamics and phenomenon. I like to talk about the news, but I also love a good chat on History. I try to understand how the society works, how governments functions and to compare them with the countries I've lived in.
BUT don't worry I am not always that serious :)

I love food. I love drinking. I am a 'bon-vivant' and I love the night better than the day so I would never say no to going out. I love the city and its hectic atmosphere. However sometimes I also like the calm of the mountains.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Anything with a beat. I listen to deep house, electronic, grime, trap, ambient. But also some rock, rap, latin & jazz.
Some of my favorite artists are Moderat, Bonobo, Kidnap Kid and Maribou State.

Movies: I hate horror movies. I probably watch too many romcoms. If I want a seriously good movie, I'll turn to European cinema. I am also one of the few who genuinely enjoy French cinema.

Books: Only recently I realized that books weren't actually that bad. I am a slow reader, so the list of books I have read is not as long as the list of movies I have seen. At the moment I am reading the 1Q84 trilogy, and it is very very good!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

That's a difficult question because I have never been particularly brilliant at anything. However, I managed to make luck happen for me so far so I believe I am on the way to do some amazing stuff :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, if you want to learn so French slang I am the person for you! I can even teach you how to make crepes like a real French.
But really, I can share some funny stories from my recent travels or some tips on how to survive in Malaysia.

I don't know everything I can share with you until I know you, so really it depends on your interests!
