Overview
About Me
Please consider: I live centrally in a popular city, my couch is therefore much in demand. So only contact me if we have some common interests and you are not just trying to save money. Copy paste will get no reply. Otherwise: Welcome! I prefer to host just one guest, but could put up a couple. My favourite lenght of stay is 2-3 nights.
Don't ask to be my friend if I don't know you personally.
Although of retirement age, I still work as a free-lance travel writer and book reviewer. About a third of the year I'm on the move (I am not listing the visited countries, there are too many.). I'm very adaptable and don't need much comfort. The same I expect from my guests.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books
My taste is elitist and oldfashioned:
I love the music of Bach, Mozart and Schubert, but also old and new jazz, Pink Floyd and Genesis, Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, French chansons or Italian cantatori. That tells you my age...
Some of my favourite authors are Annie Proulx, Alice Munroe, Donna Tartt, Christoph Ransmayr. I'm especially keen on literary travel writing, e.g. by Bouvier, Theroux, Kapuscinsky, Chatwin, Murphy.
I appreciate any style of art with quality, but find contemporary works most interesting.
On the other hand, I'm a naive movie-spectator.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most rewarding was teaching English to Burmese immigrant children in Thailand as a volunteer.
Teach, Learn, Share
I prefer learning new things to teaching old ones.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Cheerful company, travel stories and tips. And I can cook or garden.
Countries I’ve Lived In
Costa Rica, India, Switzerland, Thailand, United States
