Hello! My name is Marie. I grew up in Tokyo, Japan, and now I live in Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture, away from the city, in front of the ocean and nature. I usually do freelance design work, manage an inn, and surf when there are waves. I also compete in surfing competitions and have a great time. Mother Nature heals my body and mind and makes me feel even more energetic.

Since my cousins live in Australia and San Francisco in the U.S., I longed to live abroad and went to study in Byron Bay, Australia when I was 17 and in Los Angeles when I was 19. My English is good enough for daily conversation, and I feel like I've forgotten a little since I haven't spoken recently, but I think I can handle it!haha

I love to travel and enjoy it alone or with friends. I have been to some countries, and nothing in life is more enjoyable than meeting people from different cultures and with different way of thinking and customs in each country. It is the very best and treasure of my life to meet people from different parts of the world, not limited by the environment I grew up in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I mentioned in "About me", I want to talk with people from all over the world without being confined by the environment and values I have grown up with! Through the experience of traveling abroad, I learned that it doesn't matter what language you speak. It was a memory I will treasure forever! But I love to talk to people from different countries and share things with each other, so that is why I am learning English! I feel very connected to the people I meet on my travels.
