I am not using Couchsurfing anymore because I disagree with its commercialisation. Such projects only make sens to me if they're based upon hospitality, mutual aid and cultural exchange. Time to move on to Be Welcome...

Currently I'm a PhD student (urban sociology/geography) in Brussels.

offered and surfed couches, and - most important - made friends ! Quite a few people I initially met on Couchsurfing became true friends and part of my life.
I also try to spread the word of course !

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have traveled to many countries using couchsurfing and met the most interesting people this way.. the journeys wouldn't have been the same without CS. Generally Couchsurfing allowed me to meet the most hospitable and generous people I've ever known, I'm very grateful for all the things I could learn and experience this way.
