About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to explore the world, meet new people, challenge myself, learn as much as possible, and question who I am and what I think I know.

ABOUT ME

I like to think that I am open-minded and adventurous. My main goals in life are to learn, explore, and be happy. I try to appreciate whatever situation I end up in, and often go in search of opportunities to question my beliefs, learn more about the world, and develop a better understanding of life. I was brought up to believe in myself, think outside the box, and never be afraid to ask questions. I was lucky enough, alongside my three older siblings, to have been raised by incredibly supportive parents who consistently encourage me to push my boundaries and live my life however I best see fit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While couchsurfing is a great way to save some money while traveling, I am most passionate about it's being an incredible opportunity to meet new people that one wouldn't necessarily have had to opportunity to meet. My favourite part of traveling is making new friends and connecting with people, hands down.

Interests

I am, as I am sure many on this site are, a big fan of travel. I find when I am in one place for too long I start to get quite anxious. So I always try to stay on the move. This is in part why a career on the sea is the one I have chosen. Since before I had chosen this path, I was saying the ever so cheesy phrase, "My heart belongs to the sea". And now I know why.

After two seasons of working on board the iconic Canadian tall ship, the Bluenose II, I have developed quite a love for tall ships, and my inclination to understand the fine art of sailing has blossomed.

Music is another one of my passions. Listening to it and creating it. I have been known to dabble in ukulele, guitar, saxophone, flute, kazoo, egg shakers, and anything else I can pretend is an instrument.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music. All music. I have been known to listen to everything from classic rock to modern pop to folk music, and everything between and beyond. I love being introduced to new music and having my interpretations challenged.

My taste in literature is much akin to my taste in music, in that it is broad, and frequently changing. I enjoy non-fiction, science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, biographies, encyclopedias and beyond. Absorption of information, fact or fiction, is always a welcome pass time for me.

I am a bit of a science fiction nerd. I love Doctor Who, Star Wars, Firefly (and basically everything Joss Whedon has ever done).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well I have been told I am contagious. My personality, that is! I have an undeniable sense of humour, and a passion for life that can't be stopped. I have never liked asking for things from people, so I always try to give back, be it sharing my passions, food (and that IS a passion), or helping out. Once I know you, you are a friend. And there is nothing I would not do for a friend.
