About Me

One of the many who survived the PhD journey, and still in astonishment on how that happened! I’m very glad nonetheless and the Dr title makes my name sounds even cooler! ; )

Personality wise, I'd say I'm very easy-going and light-hearted. Friends and family say I'm full of energy and expression, and that I can go from one extreme end of expression and back to neutral state in one second. I never really noticed that myself until people around me tell me that. But usually, I'd need some time to retreat into hermit mode to gather my energy back and write a reflection poetry. If I don’t get this silent reflective time, I would lose myself and become the total opposite of the best version of myself.

I'm also full of questions, learning about things brings me great joy and it makes me happy : ) Sometimes I get very deep and would ask questions til there is no question to be asked of a particular thing : )

My philosophy:
Commitment brings freedom. The best decision requires the greatest commitment, therefore the greater the commitment, the greater your freedom will be. Indecisiveness only brings distractions.

Getting to know our own self is the scariest thing ever, embrace it anyway because change comes from within. Always accept the stranger in you and be friends with that stranger.

Also, getting to know someone is a way of getting to know yourself : )

Childlikeness and innocence are something I value very much of myself - it helps me see things in their purest forms so I don't make biased comments in any ways.

We might not have the same experiences, but it doesn't mean we don't learn the same thing out of those experiences.

Finding meaning and purpose of life is very important to me.

Show love in everything you do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing mainly to learn about the country I'm visiting from the eyes, mind and soul of the local people!

At the moment I can't offer to host, but once I'm back in Malaysia or have a place of my own anywhere in the globe, I'd be more than happy to host! : )

Interests

I have a wide range of interests. Basically, anything that could spark awe in me interests me! Even the littlest thing - just tell me the greatest function or attribute it has, and I'd be impressed! For example, raspberry pi - I'm not a hardcore programmer, but I learn programming in my research and knowing that you could make anything you like out of some codes in a little device is AWESOME!!

But NATURE is my ultimate interest. I like walking and hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Philosophical and adventure books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Involved in sun bear rehabilitation work and research in Borneo (Sabah, Malaysia to be exact).

- Found my long-lost self and feeling like a complete human, and able to think in different dimensions thereafter.

- Managed to find my way to join a group of people 'aurora-chasing' on top of a hill while being lost in the middle of nowhere in the dark winter night in the Arctic Circle : )

- City-hopping via trains Leeds-London-Brussels-Cologne-Vienna. Travelling on spacious trains and getting to walk around and have meals at each new destination really feels very light and easy! A good break from the everyday life!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share lots of smiles, energy and enthusiasm in teaching and learning anything. I look forward to learn about the history of the countries I'll be visiting (so I get a perspective not just from books and videos, but from real life stories). I'd also love to listen to people's life stories - about how they find their ways and themselves in this world - I'm interested to know the thought-process and the feelings involved. To me, these are valuable experiences a person can share. You can have a substitute for materials, but not for a person.
