ABOUT ME
I'm very passionate about a lot of things in lifeand could talk about them for ages, but I also love learning about new things from people with their own crazy passions! I can be serious and ambitious but also ridiculously silly. I'm not afraid to laugh at myself. I also like being impulsive, best moments happen when you least expect it. I really enjoy spending time with strangers. Can be eye opening and inspiring.
PHILOSOPHY
The motto that was used by LIFE magazine works pretty well for me: "To see life; see the world."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it. /Cesare Pavese
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have met the most wonderful (and also some odd people) through Couchsurfing and I am very happy to get the chance to discover and share cultures with them, ending up calling them my friends.
First time someone hosted me in Oxford was an amazing experience and got me completely hooked to couchsurfing.
Interests
I have a very wide range of interests. I love too many things in life!Languages. Theatre. History. Food (love eating!). Cultures. Art (Van Gogh, Hopper, love impressionism). DIY. Music. Party. Salsa dancing. Piano. Guitar. Singing (but sadly enough I'm extremely bad)! Hiking. Travelling. Meeting new people. Exploring. Cats. Walking a dog. And so much more!!
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a passionate reader! Usually fiction though. I have a massive amount of books, and love spending time in a bookstore. Here are some of my favorites: Kite Runner, The Curious Incident of the Dog at Night Time, The Little Old Lady That Broke All The Rules (Hilarious book!), The Hobbit, Never Let Me Go, ...
I would love to trade books with you perhaps?
Music: I listen to a lot of different music but my favourite would be 80's. The kind of music that makes you want to drop everything and start dancing randomly!
My favorite kind of movies are fiction movies in a historic scene (preferably French)The Imitation Games, Finding Neverland, A Good Year, ...
And I love theatre, I go to the theatre around 2-3 times a month. I'm addicted.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- Backpacking alone throught Asia for over 2 months, couchsurfing and hostels. Was super nice!
- During my trip in Cuba, we had the chance to swim with dolphins. It's really awesome thing to do!
- Play the guitar together with a local band in the middle of the jungle in Malaysia. We played all night, everybody was dancing. Amazing atmosphere.
- Jump down a 10 m high waterfall (I was dead scared standing at the top) in Cuba
- Survived a shark chase! Again I was dead scared when this happened!
- Skydiving (no explaination needed)
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can teach you how to make sushi/most amazing Belgian pancakes, play the guitar/ukulele/piano (but nothing crazy though), Dutch/French.
Learn: Well I'm a very curious person, so learning is my middle name (no kidding). So whatever you're interested in, I want to learn.
