关于我

Let's be honest, hotels are stupid and people are pretty awesome

Like, really. I'm amazed by all the great people on CS and thrilled to meet more of you! I love travelling and seeing new places, but for me it's all about people and experiences. When I look back on my travels, my most cherished memories are those of seemingly small and unimpressive activities like simply hanging out with a host and friends - because those are usually the moment of real connection, great stories, and feeling most welcome.

I'm very open and honest, I strongly believe that being genuine is the best and only way to live my life. I'm curious to meet you and hear your stories.

Sometimes I'm traveling with my twin sister, hence the "twinning is winning" folder in my photos. Now I'm traveling alone, but the photos are still enjoyable ;)

Notes for surfers:

I currently only host female surfers because I live in a one-room apartment and I less more comfortable sharing that room with a man, due to past experiences.

If you write a request, please tell me which fruit you identify most with.

As I said, for me travelling is all about people and experiences, and where can you better find that than at someone's home? I find that there is something magical about someone just opening up their house for you - it's more than just a sleeping place, you get the chance to experience someone's life for a little bit.

I've surfed a couple of couches thus far and they have all been very different, but so great in their own ways. I treasure the memories of each of them, and I also believe that each surfing experience shapes me in my trust in humanity, my passion for travelling, and my understanding of people and the world. I love that every person and every house is unique and I cannot wait to discover more!

• Basically anything related to sustainability, activism, and difficult big topics - I can speak hours about it and would love to hear about your worldviews because I think I can learn so much from other people
• The Great Outside: enjoy nature, meet people, explore surroundings. Love it!
• I love doing sports, making music, playing board games
• And I love food and cooking (vegetarian), from the soil to the plate. If you have a vegetable garden I would love to help out!!

音乐、电影和书籍

Music: I listen to all types of music and there's almost nothing that I don't like - especially when live. My own little super-specific niche is "Dutch, small, almost-spoken-word singer-songwriters who write funny and/or meaningful songs about real topics". Feel free to ask for an example ;P. Apart from that, favourites are: Stromae, Sufjan Stevens, Gallowstreet, Sofi Tukker, Parcels, Aurora, Altin Gün.

Movies: I don't often watch movies, but here are some titles I've liked over the past years: Everything Everywhere All At Once, Dune, Call Me By Your Name, Hidden Figures, The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Books: also a bit of everthing. Usually I alternate non-fiction with fantasy or science fiction. Some authors I like: Jonathan Safran Foer, Ursula le Guin, Brandon Sanderson, Toon Tellegen (he's Dutch and very hard to translate but I love his stories).

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

For my internship I went to Serbia to do some research and deliver agronomic advice. It was both the coolest and the weirdest trip I've had in my life. I was living in a tiny village where no tourist ever came, and in a hotel where all the staff was Serbian and the only other guests were construction workers - so I learned real fast to speak some Serbian and drink rakija. As a real Dutchie, I came prepared for living in the middle of nowhere, so I brought my bike. The border control was heavily impressed by the amount of luggage I could carry on a bike (and so was I, to be fair, because I only cycled the last 25 km so I did not exactly pack for a biking trip). Anyways, it was two months full of stories and unexpected events - feel free to ask me about it ;)

我可以与沙发主分享些什么

I can offer a lot of enthousiasm and laughter, and we will definitely have deep meaningful conversations about the meaning of life or the climate crisis (or probably both).

I can teach you some Dutch if you'd like!

I enjoy cooking and I would love to cook for you (if you accept vegetarian/vegan food). Do not expect anything from the Dutch cuisine, it is practically non-existent, but we can work with other cuisines ;)

And generally I just really want you to be comfortable so I'm very flexible in my plans and preferences.

Lastly, if you're up for it, I'm (often) travelling with my ukulele and would love to make some music, especially if we can do it together!
