About Me

Hi there! We are Mariel and Romain (or jointly named Romaru). We are an Argentinian-French couple that met in Australia back in 2013 during our backpacking experience in Australia.

Without even realising, it's been over four years since we first met. During this time, we have been living together in Australia and New Zealand. We have also done quiet a bit of travelling in these two countries as well as in Asia.

We believe that what got us together since then is the fact that we love how together we are always discovering new things with the other one and about the other one, mostly because of being from different places in the world. Being a pretty simple couple, we enjoy pretty simple things in life, i.e. we love discovering new things, people, experiences and places.

We love outdoors activities like sightseeing, hiking, going to the beach, swimming, camping and walking everywhere! We also love music, food and drinking mate (an infusion common in South America).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are in couchsurfing because we love travelling and discovering new places. We believe that the most meaningful experiences are those that somehow allow you to see something special from the place that you are visiting and getting to know the people from that place, as this tells you heaps about the place.

Everything is better when shared and that's why we love visits and being hosted.

Music, Movies, and Books

If we had to chose music type, probably rock music is our favourite one. We love artists from our home countries, classic artists. We also love getting to know new artists, including artists from the place where we live or the place we are visiting. Local artists allow us to go to concerts, which we love!!

Rom is a huge fan of cinema, photos, guitar and body board. Also a fan of sports, particularly football - got a jersey of the Argentinian national team after few months of dating!

Maru is a huge fan of reading. Enjoy reading classics such as Crime and punishments as well as contemporaneous authors. If visiting a place, love reading books about the history and culture of the place. A recently discovered hobbie is puzzles...love them!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having left our home countries to go explore the world, see beautiful places and meet amazing people.

Teach, Learn, Share

We speak three languages and we know how to make some traditional dishes.

We like learning words in different languages, about different cultures and food!

What I Can Share with Hosts

We love sharing moments, our favourites being those where conversations and experience sharing are the key thing. We also take our mate (South American infusion) wherever we go for those who want to try it!
