ABOUT ME

I am an open-minded and interested person who likes to travel. My interests are especially focused on languages, cultures and music or other kinds of arts. For October 2019 I am planning on traveling from Munich to Vienna with my bycicle, as I am currently trying to travel in a way that is less harmful to the environment.
What is important to me when it comes to food and lifestyle is also to try not to waste anything and to be involved in a way of living that promotes sustainability and environmentalism. Concerning this as well as solidarity between people from different countries and backgrounds, I am always open for new tips on groups to join or initiatives to support.
Everyone with a positive spirit is welcome at my place and I am looking forward to interesting conversations and some exchange of cultural differences or travel experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Every encounter of a new person can lead to a great exchange of different views and ideas and I am happy to take part in a world where those exchanges add to a more open-minded and tolerant society and help reduce prejudices. Also I am of the opinion that in many places accommodation as a basic need is way too overcharged and therefore want to contribute to an affordable and enjoyable travel experience for others!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am generelly open to all kinds of music except for German 'Schlager' music, which really freaks me out. I mostly listen to Pop, Rock, Reggae, Funk, Soul as well as Jazz music. As I play the guitar, I also like listening to acoustic songs and versions which I like to cover from time to time.
Currently my favourite bands involve Jason Mraz, Sauti Sol (Kenya), Zahara (South Africa), Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Beatsteaks (Germany) as well as Die Ärzte (Germany).

My favourite film is definitely Inception, once and for all.

Books that I liked where for example 'The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared' byJonas Jonasson, 'Half of a Yellow Sun' by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie or the Harry Potter books (as well as the films).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spontaneously going with a guy that I just met on my first day in Kenya to his friends place, cooking, eating, talking, jamming with the guitar and then later going out clubbing until the next morning and experiencing Nairobis night life, while acutally going to Nairobi with the thought of being cautious and just staying in, was a pretty amazing experience so far. Getting to know people in general can be pretty amazing sometimes. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

If you are interested in playing some music together or just talking about different travel experiences over a cold beer at my place or one of the many parks or bars in Munich, I would be happy to make some time if I can (as I am usually pretty busy).
We can also cook something together and share our knowledge on different dishes if you like. I am specialized in pancakes for breakfast. :P

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am happy to take a walk around the city of Munich with anyone who is interested, as well as showing them to some nice cafés, restaurants or bars and clubs in town. I enjoy listening to live music and usually there is always some bar or club who has live acts on stage in the evening at some point.

If you are visiting on a weekend you generally might want to check out if there are street markets or free events that you can attend, escpecially during summer time. :)
