About Me

Hi there!

I was born and raised in Russia and currently study Applied Linguistics there, at the same time enjoing my time as an exchange student in the United States. Ultimately, I want to work in fashion sphere, but I am also very interested in sustainability issues and try to contribute as much as possible to better future for all of us on our nice and safe planet. I danced professionally and performed in amateur theatres for a very big part of my life, but apart from that I also go in for other kinds of art. Cooking is one more passion of mine: I've experimented a lot with different cuisines and can share my best dishes with you :) Probably, the worst habbit of mine is trying to be in control and always planning ahead, however, I recently started working on that and am now improving slowly but surely, only leaving the best parts of this trait such as being neat, punctual and responsible for what I bite off. Live and learn, people say - and I try to learn and absorb new experiences, modifiyng my views on life all the time.

Living away from home now, I don't host anybody, however, I think I'll get on track once it works better for me.

Hope the profile picture is not too confusing: it's my lovely twin sis! I have uploaded other photos so you know which of the two is me :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a big fan of old Russian movies for kids, such as "Про Красную шапочку" of 1977, "Проданный смех" of 1981, "Гостья из будущего" of 1985, "Рыжий, честный, влюбленный" of 1984 and others alike. Those are the films I can watch over and over again dozens of times, that's why they stand out among other good ones :)
As for the books... "Gourmet Rhapsody" by Muriel Barbery and "A prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving turned my world upside down at a certain point of life - probably, not favorite ones, but deffinetely very influencial.
Music is always the hardest question as my tastes differs a lot depending on my mood, the time of day, weather, the activity - pretty much anything. I listen to hard rock and classics,
in any language and of any style - just not all together at the same time :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Currently I am beyond proud for three things:
Being able to sew some of my own clothes (no matter how much people around me don't believe that I might be able to pull it of), working with kids and teenagers to put up dance performances (I had to quit professional dancing and will forever regret it, but I am still kinda good at this) and having made it as an exchange student with a schoolarship to the US for a year.
These spread out through different stages of my life, but I don't leave anything behind - it all still matters and I don't want to only show one side of who I am, so I'm presenting all of it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will happily take part in a conversation on ecological situations, fashion tensencies, performative and fine arts (from observers' or the artists' point of view), Russian history and culture, linguistics and programming and, well, basicly anything as even if the topic is not something I know about, I would still enjoy getting to know opinions of other people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

- Russian culture in its' history or modern state
- a good thoughtful conversation (it's hard for me to judge, though, but it seems that people enjoy those)
- sewing, drawing, photography, dancing skills
- I don't sing but I do love poetry :)
- if needed I can help with some chores around the house, too
- and, surely, cook a nice Russian meal
