ABOUT ME

Hello everybody! Well, just like everybody here on Couchsurfing I love to travel. Have to admit I didn't travel for a long time because of financial problems.

I like other cultures and art. I draw and paint, mostly portraits. I used to dance salsa and do stuff for a little theatre here in my town. Sometimes I go to a salsa party.

I have a dog, called Luz. Love her and love to walk with her in the forrest or at the beach.

Interests

I already mentioned I like to draw. Also like to paint, but I couldn't take any paint with me, unfortunately. I like to travel around. A few years ago I was backpacking through South America. I like to go to the movies. And I love animals! My dog Luz is coming with me, and she is my anything. I would love to do some volunteer work with animals, especially with dogs or horses. I don't know much about horses, but I would love to learn how to treat them well or do some horseback riding. Love to dance salsa as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

I just love movies! Almost any kind/style. Lord of the rings, Harry Potter, love actually, slumdog millionaire, big fish, Amelie, and so much more! I like to read books as well, but I am a slow reader. :D Music: ballads, love, pop, music from movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first journey to Guatemala, for my study (social work) is something to never forget. It was my first time in a land outside Europe, my first journey alone, I didn't speak any Spanish at all, it was the first time I ever flew with a plain. Everything was new, and the first few days the only thing I could was crying. I wanted to go home. But I didn't. I took Spanish lessons, 5 days a week and that was the beginning of something special: new friends, a lovely family a stayed with, new adventures and experiences. I stayed there for 8 months and had the experience of my life!

The other special memory was my journey through South America. I traveled alone, so I had to do everything myself. In Holland I always walked behind someone else, I couldn't make decisions on my own and I didn't believe in myself. This journey learned me to have faith in my own strength, to take responsibility for my own decisions. It wasn't always fun and joy, but I accepted my problems, I faced my fears and I felt strong.

Now I kind of lost that faith in myself (for some ugly reasons :'(). Maybe that's the main reason I want to travel again. I want to feel that faith again, I want to trust people again, I want to feel freedom and alive instead of 'living dead'.
This sounds kind of sad and down, and maybe it is, but I promise I will meet you with a smile! :D
