About Me

Hello! 😊 My name is Marina, and I’m from Japan.
Living abroad—especially in Europe—has been my dream since I was a student, and I’ve been living in Düsseldorf, Germany since 2022.

When I travel, I try to avoid just the typical tourist spots and instead look for local recommendations and special experiences that can only be found in that place.
For example, I’ve participated in fun and unusual events like the Tomato Festival in Spain and the Orange Festival in Italy.

🌍 I’m especially interested in:
• Traveling in a hot air balloon
• The Carnival in Rio
• The Day of the Dead in Mexico (Día de los Muertos)
• Visiting Antarctica and the Arctic
• Finding my favorite hot spring in Europe
(I love natural hot springs—not spas or saunas—but places where hot water flows from the earth and mixes with rivers or the sea to create the perfect temperature.)

🎨 My hobbies:
• Listening to jazz and orchestral music
• Pottery, acrylic painting, and flower arrangement
• Playing badminton, tennis, and table tennis
• Hiking and mountain climbing (I’ve climbed Mt. Fuji!)
• Scuba diving (I have a C-card license)
• Golf
• Starting next year, I’ll be playing drums in a small jazz band.

• Snowboarding (I especially enjoy moguls!)
• Skiing

I really enjoy connecting with locals while traveling—sharing stories, learning about their daily lives, and discovering hidden gems that don’t appear in guidebooks.
I love walking through cities with someone who can show me their favorite spots, even if they’re simple or small.
I’m more interested in local culture and everyday life than in visiting famous landmarks.

I’m completely new to Couchsurfing, so if you have any tips on how to be a good guest, I’d really appreciate your advice! 😊
(P.S. My English is at a basic conversational level.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m not just looking for typical sightseeing spots – I’d love to have special experiences or hear personal stories from someone who really knows the city.

Interests

I’d love to hear about special experiences you’ve had and unique activities that can only be done in that place. 😳
Since I love hot springs, I’d also be happy to hear about any amazing ones you’ve visited!

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m planning to start a jazz band.
I also enjoy listening to classical music and orchestras.
Of course, I also like pop and country music. ☺️

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve already swum with whales once.
I’ve also tried various activities, like skydiving, scuba diving, and bungee jumping. 😳

Teach, Learn, Share

Japanese culture is quite different from that of many other countries, so I can also tell you about useful manners and cultural insights that are good to know when traveling in Japan. ✨
