About Me

I'd describe myself as a warm, curious and easy-going person who loves meaningful conversations, shared meals and spontaneous moments. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to live in different countries apart from my home country (Cuba, Mexico, Bolivia and Indonesia) - experiences that shaped me and the way I see the world mainly through the people I met. Ever since, I have been genuinely interested in people and their stories - although or especially when they differ from the way I grew up or used to see the world. For me, that's also what Couchsurfing is about: experiencing small moments of connection with strangers through hospitality, kindness and honest interest for each other while learning new perspectives on this crazy world we all happen to live in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people from different cultures and getting inspired by their stories. Travelling means to me not only to see new places but also to meet people and cultures I didn't know so far. And for me it would be an honor to also host them as I know that I won't be able to visit all the countries I'd like - so I like the idea that they can be visiting me as well :)

Interests

I am really passionate about Cuban salsa - dancing as well as listening to the music (I am not very professional, but it will always bring a smile to my face :)). Apart from that, I like to try out new sports/dance styles, so in the past years I tried Badminton, Kizomba, Acro(batic)Yoga, toprope climbing etc.
Furthermore, I like cooking and baking a lot (good reason to come visit me ;-) ), and I am really passionate about picnics, beautiful nature, and relaxed days/evenings at some lake/river or - even better - at the seaside. Not to forget: I guess my greatest "hobby" is spending time with my friends :)

Music, Movies, and Books

My playlists are usually filled with latin music, mostly Cuban (trova cubana, timba), but also Mexican (cumbia!), from Spain, and other Spanish-speaking countries. However, I also like indie folk and pretty much any acoustic music, regardless of the language, as well as new music genres that I haven't encountered before.

When it comes to series, I am always up for one (or more :D) episode of "Friends" and am currently watching "Las chicas del cable" (don't ask me why I didn't watch it earlier!).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living and working in Cuba for 8 months and doing this, getting challenged to question a lot of my concepts of life, work, and society, and reflect on my privileges.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some German, show you basic salsa steps, share my music playlists, and show you some traditional German dishes – and if it’s around Christmas time, I’m always happy to share some traditional German Christmas cookies (which I have prepared in every country I lived so far - regardless the temperature) ;-)
