About Me
Hi there everyone!
I'm a Literature and Art history student from Serbia, with a special addiction for youth NGO sector and volunteering. I am a lover of independence, honesty and fairness, so you might call me a typical idealist. I enjoy meeting new people and meeting myself through each new interaction, and I love observing the world around me while immersing myself in the culture. I find special enjoyment in deep philosophical conversations about the meaning of life and local food, taking long walks without maps and being intellectually challenged.
Favourite quote: In the midst of winter I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. - Albert Camus
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've decided to make my own bold steps towards independence, first of which was taking a trip alone.
I am hoping that Couchsurfing will help me learn to be more on my own and to be less dependent on the usual channels of travelling such as hostels, hotels etc. I don't like the idea of being a mere consumer while achieving my great personal goals, but I like the idea of achieving it with the pure good will of strangers - it's thrilling and rewarding and I hope to be a more open-minded person in the future. I guess you could say that I want to feed my idealism with the kindness of strangers and feed my mind with their wisdom. And I hope that someday, I'll be able to do the same for other like-minded people.
Interests
I am a big lover of traveling, cultural exchange and learning foreign languages.
My specialties are binge watching TV shows, especially the ones with a Science Fiction or Epic Fantasy overtones, as well as pulling all-nighters reading books of the same thematics.
I love music festivals, snow, funny accents, food. I am a non-smoker, with a sweet tooth and guilty pleasure of drinking red wine.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: anything with a good melody and lyrics, such as Jose Gonzales, Placebo, The Cure, The Cult, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, U2; but basically anything goes - I once spent 2 weeks listening to nothing but french chansons. I still sometimes listen to Edit Piaf while cleaning up my room.
Music: Black&white miracles like Casablanca, The Apartment, Some Like it Hot; classics like Shawshank redemption, The Godfather, Die Hard, Star Wars, Lord of The Rings; and guilty pleasures like Love Actually and Bridget Jones for those days spent in the bed.
Books: Crime and Punishment, Harry Potter, The Trial, Norwegian Wood, Shadow of the Wind, The Wheel of Time, Magic Mountain and so many more
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Not to sound too lame, but my personal biggest success was getting my swimmer's diploma. After two events of drowning and a crippling fear of water and depth, it took me 18 years to fight the fear, make the plunge and actually learn how to swim. So, I'd say that the most amazing thing I've done was beating a paralyzing fear and realizing that there is nothing limiting for a human being but ourselves.
Teach, Learn, Share
I freelance as an English teacher, so I am always willing to share my knowledge of English and Serbian. I have an extensive knowledge of project management, event management, volunteering, soft skills etc, so I'm up for sharing my experiences. Same goes for European literature and any trivia drills regarding one of the following subjects: Harry Potter, Friends, Mad Men, and generally anything on TV.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my story, enthusiasm, and ideas, and of course - a special souvenir from my native country.
