Overview
About Me
Hi there! My name is Marina, I'm a Catalan linguist who's passionate about translation and subtitling. Originally from Barcelona, I'm now living in Sheffield, in the UK, and very much enjoying the folk music scene and the proximity to the Peaks National Park.
FYI, I don't accept friendship requests from people I haven't met and won't bother replying to disrespectful requests.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is a great way of travelling, as opposed to just sightseeing. I don't like going to a place and feeling that I'm just seeing the touristy surface of it.
I've had great experiences couchsurfing in the UK, Japan, Belgium, Slovakia, and other European countries!
I haven't hosted yet, but I'm looking forward to it now my house is (slightly) less of a building site!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: from traditional Irish music to European folk, from alternative rock to swing jazz, and musicals and film soundtracks.
Films/Books: sci-fi and fantasy mostly, some feminist and queer non-fiction as well.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach Catalan and Spanish, and English if you don't mind me not being a native speaker. I also can cook some vegan recipes from Catalonia and the UK.
I would like to learn more Japanese, French and new (vegan) recipes :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I enjoy speaking with people from different backgrounds and cultures. I think meeting people is one of the most important and beautiful parts of travelling.
I usually carry some board game or card game with me.
Apart from having good conversations and games, I think it can also be very interesting to explore places together :)
