About Me

Becoming wild.

There is a magic machine that sucks carbon out from the air, costs very little and builds itself. It’s called…a tree. (George Monbiot).

Since my student years environmental problems and challenges obviously started to touch me and at some point I could not be indifferent anymore. The phase of watching Home (Yann Arthus-Bertrand) and spending evenings with This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate ( Naomi Klein) has brought to me more understanding of what is going on in the world.

Therefore, I have started to search for like-minded people, those, who would share my interest and desire to act. However, it appeared that climate activism and promotion of renewable energy (in most of the cases all the Ukrainian eco-organizations are concentrated on it) was not somewhat fascinating for me, becoming a vegan seemed to be an extreme as well, while the purpose seemed to be the same. Something was wrong, I could not understand what.

Unexpected trip to Siberia has added a lot to my perception of nature – I have got a chance to observe and inhale wild nature, which is still reach and incredibly fulfilling. Living outside, walking through the forest, rafting in the river, cooking out of local products on fire and drinking from river provided me with realization of real values in our life, freedom and feeling of satisfaction by little things. It made me love and notice nature all around.

With the inspiration inside I have appeared to be a long-term volunteer in a regional centre of education for sustainable development in biosphere reserve in Germany, where my colleges appreciated nature from another point of view – scientific one. Thus, they brought me to realization that there are some other concerns as a raise of global temperature – rapid reduction of biodiversity. Nevertheless, they were concentrated on problems rather than solutions.

Afterwards, my internship on nature and adventure pedagogic back in Germany showed and explained an importance of contact with nature from the very childhood. Absence of it could partially explain an environmental crisis that we have faced with. Nature is spread before us like the pages of an open book but the pages lie unread. We have simply forgotten the language. Thus, if children lose contact with nature they won’t fight for it in future.

It has taken about 4 years in order to find out where my own passion lies and how I could potentially make a living out of it. Again, by chance, I became a student of Nature retour course, in Denmark, where we do not speak about problems anymore. We don’t speak – we experience and learn by observing and doing, which creates both contact with nature and knowledge on nature based climate solutions and food security solutions for the upcoming decades.
