About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Survive. That's a good start I think.
ABOUT ME
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. This line puts it in a nutshell. I like thinking about my ideals, and sharing them, and trying to put them into practice.
Friends would probably describe me as a very warm-hearted, open, sociable and dynamic person. I am very curious about new ideas, and skills. That's also a reason why I've collected a bunch of instruments over the years, which I play a little, but not all of them really :P I just need to keep my mind and hands a bit busy, so I juggle, do some vegetable gardening, and sewing.
PHILOSOPHY
Every moment of your life you can decide to live your life differently. It doesn't mean we always should, but see what an immense freedom of mind, and autonomy this idea can give you!It is a thought from Mindfulness, and somewhat refers to the autopilot we switch on so often in our daily lives. Mindless and without attention, we tend to simply follow patterns, and routines. My personal philosophy, and what I try to practise is to live every moment as if it really mattered. And it actually does (that's what the mindfulness teacher Jon Kabat-Zinn would say).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new here, and on my journey to explore couchsurfing. Before joining this community, I've had a bunch of people stay over in our beautiful student house in Tilburg, and our cozy apartment in Amsterdam. Really, I love having people around!
For the coming weeks/months I have to search for a room in Amsterdam.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am a freshman couchsurfer, so there's still many things to experience. Looking forward to that!

Music, Movies, and Books
When the music is authentic and original I can get enthusiastic about it. I'm inspired by virtuous guitar players, and influences from kletzmer and gypsy music. My all times favorite is Dota Kehr, because of her socio-critical lyrics and her combination of bossa nova, jazz and folk rock.
Sometimes the music world feels like an overwhelming medley. Then I fall back on the old reliable sounds of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Beethoven and Cat Stevens (when it's really, really bad).
Concerning books,I find Hermann Hesse very addictive. Damn, this man is inspiring. Must read: Siddharta and Steppenwolf.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1. Fire breathing. It was amazing. I felt like a Chinese dragon.
2. Kite-bugging. When you use really big kites and you jump a little if feels like flying.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach:
✓ I can introduce Mindfulness to you. It's a great way of life and can be used as a meditation in everyday life situations.
✓ Guitar, a bit of music theory and piano.
✓ Social psychology! Even if you don't ask, I might just start talking about psychology, because I am so passionate about it, and in fact it is applicable to every situation.
Learn:
Surprise me, and show me something new. One day I would love to learn some Spanish, how to swing some poi, and how to do the robot dance^^
