Hi there! My name is Marine. I'm a 26 French girl that grew up (mostly) in Belgium in a very multicultural background.

I'm currently finishing up my master's degree in cultural anthropology, with a specialty on health and epidemiology. In every free moment i can, i try to hop on a plane, boat, bus, car or on my feet to discover my surroundings. So far i've backpacked through australia, lived a year in peru and backpacked through ecuador and bolivia, fell in love with the canadian east coast, visited my father while he lived in India and recently came back from a four month work trip in west africa Guinea.

To say that i have a wanderlust issue would be an understatement. i've promised myself to visit a minimum of one new country a year and to makes friends all over this tiny planet.

I'm very extroverted, sometimes a loud talker and i love a good laugh with random strangers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it's probably the best way to visit a country and it's cities. I like the idea of meeting local people with an open heart who share an interest in meeting new people from around the world.

I do not want to travel or see people traveling without ever encountering a more authentic side than the one portrayed by tourist attractions and hostels. ( Cultural anthropology eh?)

I want to learn and teach in return whatever i can. I want to laugh at funny differences between cultures that often lead to awkward moments (what do you mean you have to throw your toilet paper in a basket Oo Damn Peru ! :D) and generally realize that if there are differences, there are also a lot of similarities.

I want to hear people's stories and experiences and be able to share mine with them.

Oh and Fun. I basically just want to have fun !

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a GEEK! At least that is what i have been told. Huge Movie and TV show fan here! i have spent wayyyyy too much time on these things..

Tv/ Movies: Game of thrones, Lost, the leftovers, dexter etc. (seriously there is way too many to start listing here); Star Wars.. Not known but a serious movie pearl: The man from earth; The fifth element. I love sci fy... but to be honest i'm up for anything !

Music... Mostly grew up listening to electronic music, but i'm not difficult as long as it get's me moving or enables emotions in me.. i'm good.
Oh and i love singing. I randomly sing all the time but i promise not to embarass you if we go out !

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I fed a pigs head to a crocodile when i was woofing in Australia... I think that might be considered amazing?

Otherwise: Biking down a volcano, doing a backflip on the Uyuni salt desert, Scubadiving in the red sea, climbing my way all the way up to Machu Pichu, Taking a local merchand boat to up the amazon river all the way to the peruvian border... and many more to come!
