who I am?
Besides that I am 57, half German and half Italien, I worked as a freelance journalist and as a lecturer for journalistic and marketing topics.

But my life changed in a dramatic way, after the suicide of my partner in 2016 .... so, as a consequence I will do the project:

www.treesofmemory.com - Planting trees of memory for suicide victims (not only) on a path around the world.

Since march 2018 I am hiking around the world and planting trees of memory for suicide victims. I support families after a suicide and I try to help suicidal people. I initiated an international non profit association who is doing suicide prevention and much more.

While I am on tour I often sleep in the nature and on camping sites. Here in Italy the nature is always closed private property, fields and it is not possible to enter. Often there are no campingsites. This is why I need here and there some help in the form of a roof over my head and the one of my dog Tyrion.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

If you want to understand the world then travel. Go from house to house and listen to the stories of real life and experience the circumstances people have to live in. Sharing will put us together, will teach us understanding, acceptance and empathy.

I am afraid, there will be parts nobody will plant a tree for a loved one, maybe there is no camping site around, maybe the weather is a nightmare, maybe I will feel terrible lonley from time to time .... so couchsurfing would be a possibility to meet people, to tell my story, to talk about what and why I am doing this, to socialize a bit, to work on the chance that more people are become aware of Trees of Memory and what a great thing all of us could create together. And next to all: I love cooking .... so this could be my "thank you" :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

... a lot...
-when I was 18 I traveled from Senegal to Madagaskar - it took me one year
- I am a team member of the Antarctic Expedition Breaking the ice - so we sailed with a 22 meter sailing boat to Antarctica to climb a unclimbed mountain
-I wrote cooking books
- and hanging on the other side of the rov, i was diving down to titanic ...
- I am a paraglider
- since March 2017 I am in a Boxing club and I am learning Trampoline jump
- I did the 1000 km Camino to Santiago de Compostella
- dogs are my friends
... and so much more

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well:

I am a real good cook and I am sure I can make something out of almost everything. So yes, I would love to cook for you. Did I mentioned I am Author of cooking books?

What else, I have some stories from my trips, but ones Trees of Memory started, I am sure I can tell a lot about the world and the people from ...

But most important:I know how it feels afterlosing the most important person in life. I know how it feels, if you can´t sleep, eat, work any more because he or she left for good, I know every corner of the hell and I can listen to you and hug you again anad again and again if you need it. I lost everything and at a certain point I was ready to go too, what I did - but up there was no need for me. I know every single stage which is linked to depression, suicide, surviving and way more.
I will stay and help for a while, until you are good again - if you need it. Sometimes we do and nobody wants to see it - I know that.

And my dog Tyrion will bring some joy into your life too.
