About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living in Seoul!!!

ABOUT ME

So something about the story of my life and family. I am 29, so I was born back in 1982 when the cold war was still raging. My mother was born in Eritrea, which is a former italian colony. My father should have become a catholic priest, but finally decided not to (I was quite lucky). While I grew up trying to avoid sin, I later found out that sinning was fun after all. I left my parent's house in 2001 and moved to Pisa to study physics. The state paid my tuition because they thought it was a nice idea to. I lived in a student house, so I am accustomed with sharing stuff with people and with messy and dirty house- or roommates. I have lived in the US on a summer-student project (JHU in Baltimore) and again in Santa Barbara for a super-long workshop for a month. I had the crazy idea to move in with my (now ex-) girlfriend after graduating, which filled the house with pets (a hamster, two cats and a dog in a two-room house). I also traveled around Europe. When I go to a place I love to try as much local food as possible and I am a decent cook so we can maybe share recipes.æ

PHILOSOPHY

In summer 2009 I had a major change in my life. I used to have a personal philosophy. I actually thought "I am X, therefore I should do Y". Now I think "I do Y. Should I care if people then think I am X? Nope". Think about letting go of lots of fears and limitations. Now I am too busy living my life to have time for defining a coherent personal philosophy.

Or in short:
Identity is like crutches... if you can't walk properly on your own, go ahead and use them. But if you want to run, then it's time to throw them away.

UPDATE: go to www.truthstrike.com and the same breaktrough will take place for you too, all you need is to work on the question "is there a self?" by observing how your mind works. You will need only a couple of days. The people on that forum will help you see that there is no such thing as a coherent, monolithic self. That is, you are free to do whatever you want.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can host people in my loft in Rastignano, near Bologna. Garden also available, I guess you can camp there during the summer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted four times, I have never been hosted, lots of coffee and drinks... nice experiences in Sevilla and in Malta and in Bologna too.

Interests

- meeting people, learning stuff, particularly languages- understanding how things work (e.g. globular star clusters)- growing vegetables, cooking and eating the results- yoga, reiki, family constellations, relaxing activities and self-improvement in general- that is, re-programming the quick emotional responses of my mind- caving (i.e. speleology, exploring caves to find out what's there inside)- helping my gf translating finnish poetry (she's from Tampere) into italian- æ

Music, Movies, and Books

I _love_ cinema. Old movies especially. I will tell you in person about that!
And about books: I love Flaubert, I think he was a genius and any woman who didn't drool for him didn't understand much about life. I am currently reading Sherlock Holmes adventures, 20k leagues under the sea, Vanity Fair (how thick!), and Heart of darkness... yes, all in parallel because I don't have a TV set and those books were the TV of two centuries ago, after all.
Music? I am currently listening to pop/dance groups in russian to learn very important words such as Любовь, Сердце, Я буду ждать тебя всегда, я хочу в твои глаза and so on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Everything is amazing. Really. Even mosquitoes (look at one closely). There is also a place in the Alpi Apuane where the sun rises twice.

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach:
- some cooking/wines/etc...
- I guess some italian
- physics
- best places to be around
Would like to learn:
- anything about music
- your way of life/values/expectations...
- your language (especially if you are korean!)
- some more cooking?
