About Me

I'm a 33 year old software service engineer which makes me a logical thinker. I consider myself predictable and reliable. But this doesn't mean that I don't like to have fun. Humor is very important for me, it just makes me feel good. I love to see a smile on someone's face, somehow it makes me smile as well. I'm not afraid of the wrinkles it will give me, I'm more interested in the good memories it creates. I'm also very open minded, although sometimes I have to be pushed a little, I like to discover new things. Life is short and there are so many things to discover.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Although I'm originally from Belgium, I recently spend 4 years living and working in Paris which was a great experience. Especially because I got to know people from different countries with different backgrounds. Even though it was no cultural shock to live in Paris, I somehow enjoyed being in a new environment. Eventually I came back to Belgium, but my trip to Paris made me well aware of the fact that the world has so many things to offer. The world is bigger then the town I'm currently living in and bigger than Belgium. I like to discover more of it. Going on a planned vacation and staying in hotels is nice, but you still do things your way. It's good to come into contact with other people and change your habits a bit. It will make you a richer person.

Interests

In my spare time I play futsal, go outside running or mountain biking and I recently started playing the trumpet.

My interests are really broad. I like discovering everything that's new.

A strand vacation, really doing nothing is not my thing. I'd rather learn to surf.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is very important in the sense that it can influence the way I'm feeling. I don't have a favorite type of music. It really depends. But there are some types of music that I don't like. There has to be a melody, when it's just noise I prefer silence. I'm not good at playing music yet, but I think it must be a great feeling to be able to play with other musicians. I prefer movies that inspire me, make me laugh, dream or just allow me to forget my problems. When it comes to books I like everything that can't be found in the fiction department of a library. When I finished a book I need to have the idea to have learned something in a non boring and effective way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stepping out of my comfort zone. I'm very grateful to those who pushed me to do some new things. Going to Paris was a big step for me, but when I look back at it, it was really a great experience. Now I just regret my hesitations to explore new things.

I also have good memories from my trips that we forgot to plan. I experienced plenty of unexpected things and saw things no regular tourist would ever see. When you're staying for 2 weeks in nature. You're also more conscience about the luxury you live in.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have some stories and a smile to share. I could teach you a language, whether it's a programming language, a spoken language or the basics of the musical language. It doesn't matter.

I'm open to everything that's new and I want to exchange on everything I have learned or have an opinion on.

Basically I'd like to share my time with interesting people doing interesting things ;)
