About Me
Hi!
I'm Mario! I am originally from Mexico City, Mexico but for the last 8 years I have lived in Seattle in the USA. Before starting the current year-long trip I'm in, I worked in Software Engineering in a couple big companies back home. Besides that, I worked/volunteered at a theater, do improvisational theater, and do some writing. One o my projects during this trip is to collect and share stories from people all around the world!
I am really fortunate to be taking about a year to travel around the world during 2015. I have been on the road since January. I traveled through South America already and I am looking forward to meeting new people and places. That hopefully will include you!
I am on the quieter/introverted side of the spectrum, so I will be a quiet guest around your place. That doesn't mean that I would not be up for chatting or hanging out if you would like to! It just means that I will need some time to recharge every so often. Also, as your guest I will be more than happy to help out with errands or stuff around the house. And since I have worked with software (mostly web stuff) and computers for the last few years I might be able to help out with any computer issues you may be having.
I have not done couch surfing before, but I have done a bit of Airbnb, so if you'd like to check my profile and reviews there here's the link: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/users/show/25012409
I am certain that doing Couch Surfing will be a great experience and that we'll learn a lot from each other.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm currently traveling for an extended period of time so I am not available to host currently. Once I come back home (and find a new home) I'd be more than happy to host .
I'm on Couchsurfing for a few reasons: finding places to crash at of course, meeting new people and making new friends, learning from new people, and sharing stories.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - I tend to go for rock (all kinds, but especially old, classic rock), classical. From there, I have a rather eclectic collection of songs that are less dependent on a style but rather whether I liked it or not.
Books - (Too many to list them all, but:) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Anansi Boys, Neverwhere, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Night Circus, The Journeyer, Shogun, The Last Days of Summer, Alice in Wonderland, Ender's Game, The Phantom Tollbooth, The Little Prince (fun fact, I actually own it thrice, one in English, one in Spanish, and one in French)
Movies - Dr Strangelove, The King's Speech (as I also have a slight speech issue), Beauty and the Beast, The Wrath of Kahn, among others.
Podcasts: Welcome to Nighvale, RadioLab, The Truth, the Tobolowsky Files.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think I have to share a story about my proudest moment in theater and improv:
I was doing an Improv show one night when our host/MC brought a kid (maybe 10 years old) to play with us on stage. It was a scene where we would point to the kid and he would complete the dialogue for us. So we were playing that game, when the kid completed the line with a video-game reference. I actually got it and started playing with it and the kid was loving it.
After the show the kid's mom approached us in the lobby. She told us her son was on the autistic spectrum, so he would normally had a hard time doing what he did and that she had never seen him laugh so hard in his entire live.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach - I am willing to teach some of the things I know. I can help out with Spanish, some theater/improvisation stuff, with software and web design, storytelling, and even some writing/editing help.
Learn - I would be more than happy to learn anything you would like to teach or share with me!
Share - I would love to share stories and discussions.
What I Can Share with Hosts
As a guest I will do my absolute best to accommodate your schedule and disrupt your regular life as little as possible. Also, I will abide by your rules, after all, it is your home!
I'd be more than happy to help with chores or any projects you may have as a way of helping out while I'm there.
And of course, I'd be more than happy to share meals/beers with you, with me buying the first round!
