About Me

On April 22, 2019 I started walking across the United States to raise money for St.Jude Children's Research Hospital. This is my second time walking across the U.S. to raise money for St.Jude; between 2012 and 2013 I spent eighteen months walking across the U.S. While doing so I had some amazing experiences; meeting people from all over the U.S., and seeing nearly half of the country on foot was life-changing. I enjoyed seeing how people live in other parts of the country. It wasn't just U.S. born people I learned from though, while staying with various Couchsurfing hosts I also met people from other parts of the world who were here visiting. As a traveler I enjoy getting the opportunity to share experiences with other people. Volunteering with child/youth centered organizations and fundraising is something I find fulfilling . Besides being someone who enjoys volunteering and walking long distances--to raise money of course--I also enjoy watching films, writing music, art, and photography. I'd like to think I'm a foodie... I'm not sure I can consider myself one since I'm vegetarian. I enjoy having conversations, from philosophical and intellectual to downright silly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's great to share experiences with members of the Couchsurfing community, especially with those that haven't traveled much or are visiting from other countries. The Couchsurfing community is so diverse, communicating and interacting with it's members opens up one's mind to how people live not only in other parts of the world but in the U.S. as well.

Couchsurfing experience:
Being a part of the Couchsurfing community has made me a more open-minded person. I'm grateful to all the people her who I have met and have enriched my life and become friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movie - Where does one begin? I like movies from all genres whether they be silent films, big budget summer blockbusters or micro budget student/independent films. I just like seeing how people tell stories using the medium of film.

Music - This is another one of those things where I tend to like a lot of different styles. I know a lot of people say this but it's true. I listen to everything from death metal to classical.

Books - When I used to read, classic sci-fi and horror novels. My favorites are Frankenstein and Interview With The Vampire. The most recent book I read--and the first book I've bought in 13 years--is Shoe Dog by Phil Knight (founder of Nike).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Raising $13,000 for St.Jude Children's Research Hospital by walking across America and seeing half of the United States on foot.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've spend the last several years discovering new things about myself. If I could teach one thing to others it would be to learn how to love yourself and the importance of doing good for others. What I have to share with the community here are the experiences I had on the road and how it changed me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

What I have to share are my experiences and helping others understand the value of being a member of the Couchsurfing community. As members we have the opportunity to bring people, from all walks of life, together.
