About Me

Hi everyone,

My name is Marion. I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. I'm a down-to-earth person that gets along well with others. I'm fairly social, outgoing, and extroverted but also appreciate my downtime. I love animals and children - they make my days brighter! I'm all about building community, reaching out to others, experiencing new things, and being an active global citizen.

In my free time I enjoy hiking, bike-riding, volunteering, checking out art shows and live music, trying new restaurants/bars/breweries, yoga, spending time at the beach, camping. When I'm feeling more low-key I like to craft, cook/bake, read, and watch my favorite shows. I like occasional nights out, but am definitely past the partying stage of my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I love to travel, make new friends, and get a local's viewpoint in the places that I visit. I also think that Couchsurfing is a great way to create a global community and connect with others that are different than ourselves. This seems like a great way to do all of the above and I hope in the future I can offer the same hospitality and friendship to people visiting my city. The only reason I am not accepting couch surfers of my own right now is because I am currently living with family.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done is study abroad in Kenya for a Summer during college. That experience changed my life forever. It was the first time that I had really stepped outside of my bubble and comfort zone like that. I experienced a safari - saw animals in their natural habitat up close. I met some incredible people, many of whom I am still friends with. I also witnessed severe poverty and inequality, political instability, and a lack of opportunities/resources like I had never seen before. Despite this, I also saw the incredible resilience of people in desperate situations. I saw their love, compassion, warmth, and desire to share - despite having almost nothing to give.
