About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discovering new places, points of views, ways of living, extreme climates

ABOUT ME

Young couple, quite into travelling and outdoors. We started a big trip from Europe to Asia and South America in January 2014. Three years later, we are still on the road.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We mainly surfed. We will be happy to become hosts... when we'll have a house! A few times, we also simply got in touch with locals thanks to CS.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have surfed 5 times in 2014, 3 time in 2015, once in 2016, once in 2017. All were great experiences!

Interests

* Hitchhiking:
In 2015 we hitchhiked from France to China, through Europe and Central Asia. We also hitchhiked in Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Alaska, Argentina, Taiwan... We love this kind of transportation: meeting new people, sharing a bit of their life during a few (or more!) kilometres, sleeping in our tent by the side of the road...

* Travelling by train/bus:
- We crossed Australia (from East to West, and from South to North) in 2011 by train. Amazing desert landscapes. Lots of interesting places along the way. Cook in Nullarbor Plain has an unbelievable sense of isolation.
- In 2013, we crossed the US from Boston to Vancouver by bus. Wonderful experience. Interesting people on board.
- In 2014, we took the transsiberian and transmongolian train from St-Petersburg to Beijing in winter. Amazing two-month trip!

* Hiking: As Western Europeans, we are still fascinated by the remoteness and untouched nature of some parts of less crowded areas. Antarctica has obviously no match, but wilderness in Australia and US is fascinating. From September to November 2014 we hiked 900 km in the high-altitude deserts of southern Bolivia. One of our greatest experience so far.

* Wildlife watching, especially birds:
We almost never travel without binoculars and a bird identification field guide. Geeky isn't it? Well, yeh. Kinda...

* Scuba diving and free diving: two different ways of exploring the underwater world. The Great Barrier Reef is cool, Indonesia well not bad, Carribean pretty amazing. As years pass, we find the more intimate freediving experience infinitely more meaningful than scuba and we stick to it now. No bubbles anymore.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

OK. Picture this: 20 below freezing. Wind is blowing so hard you can barely open your eyes. Welcome to Antarctica!
For one year, we have been the lucky few who could witness the 3-foot tall Emperor penguins holding still, in the drifting snow and the darkness of polar winter.
Did we mention the auroras?

Teach, Learn, Share

We love to share our passion for Antarctica.

John knows about weather patterns, clouds, also ocean dynamics. Would be delighted to talk about local weather as well as energy-climate issues.

Marion can tell the difference between a male turtle and a female. Interesting, isn't it? And so many other funny things about animals.

We can definitely help with your French practice!
