About Me

I am a student living in Boston, MA, originally from New Orleans, LA.

I grew up seeing people from Louisiana grow up, stay put, and build their lives right where they were. I decided that wasn't the life for me, so here I am, talking to strangers on the internet like I was specifically told not to do as a kid.

Currently absorbing life when life isn't trying to absorb me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

How better to meet a new place than to meet its people?

I believe in the power of community and human kindness, and CS is a product of this beautiful force.

There are no angels to do God's work, only humans.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies and books that tell me fresh stories from people whose experiences I may never have shared. For example: The Intouchables, Persepolis, Americanah, Waking Ned Devine...

I'm not always so serious though. My all-time favorite movie is O Brother, Where Art Thou?

I love social and cultural documentaries and cooking shows as well.

While my music tastes are varied, I have a soft spot for folk music of any kind - I like feeling connections to human history. Irish ballads and reels in particular.

Then again, I also get this feeling when I cook with barley (an ancient grain!), so maybe I am easily excited.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 17 I won a scholarship to visit University College Dublin with a high school group for two weeks over the summer. It was my first time abroad, and I went with a group of complete strangers.

This kicked off a life of running around the world and making my mom nervous.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to knit (if I remember to bring materials...)

I also love to share and hear stories. As Bill Nye once said, "Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't."

For example, you may not know: when driving on highways in rural Jordan, in addition to camels in farmed herds, there are often camels hanging out on the side of the road, doing camel things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm learning photography and sketching. My dream is to be responsible for people's favorite pictures of themselves. I can offer portrait photos and/or ink sketches! I'm getting better at it all the time.

Countries I’ve Visited

Germany, Ireland, Jordan, Spain, Turkey
