I think that making friends and staying with someone, rather than hiding in a hotel room, is how you truly get to know the place that you are staying. That way you fully indulge into the culture in order to better appreciate it and possibly make some life long friends!

Music, Movies, and Books

I read: I, Claudius, The Alchemist, Bio-Young.
I listen to: anything and everything (except country). Music takes me to another place and I’m open to altering my mood with whatever comes on, no matter the genre.
I watch: earth documentaries. My favorite is Into The Inferno by Werner Herzog. I love all of Mel Brooks’ films. I have a soft spot for older films like The Sound of Music and The Birds.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve been working with a dog rescue shelter for a year and a half by helping the animals transition from a kennel to their forever homes.
I take old dogs, young dogs, abused dogs, etc. on hikes and to dog beaches to help show them that humans and other animals are capable of love and trust.
We have seen a monumental difference in the animals and their adoption rates when we acclimate them this way and give them their carefree nature back.
